Since the early days of firearms, there have been individuals who have devoted their lives to the art of shooting. From skirmishers and marksmen to competitive shooters, each individual has had their own unique skillset and approach to mastering this deadly sport. One such individual is Johnnie Ray Horton, better known as Shooter Johnny or Shooter Joe. Shooter Johnny was born in Athens, Texas on November 7th, 1912. He attended high school in Athens before moving on to study at Sam Houston State University in 1951-1952. During his time at Sam Houston State University, Shooter Johnny met and befriended future partners Bob Griggs and Darrell "Deuce" McDowell. It was during these formative years that ShooterJohnny developed his love for firearms which would eventually lead him down a path of success as a professional shooter. In 1957, Shooter Johnny moved from Athens to Fort Worth where he continued his studies with the intent of becoming a Certified Pistol Sheriff (CPS). After several months of hard work and practice, he was finally able to achieve this goal. In 1959-1960, Shooter Johnny placed third at the National Shotgun Championship held at Ft Worth's Fair Park Expo Center. This event would be vital in helping him become successful as a pistol sheriff; it showed off his skills as well as solidify his reputation among other NRA members throughout the country. In 1961-1962, Shooter Johnny again placed third at the NRA/ILA Gun Show Championship held in Louisville Kentucky; this competition helped further establish his name within the Pistol Sheriff subculture and prove that he could compete against more experienced shooters from around the world. In 1963-1964 ShowerJohnny represented Texas at both The International Shooting Sports Foundation (TSF) World Championships Base Camp Challenge Series Finals in Hollandia New York City - an event that is considered one of the greatest shooters' matches ever staged. At this event, he placed sixth out of eleven contestants with a total score of 2643 points! This victory demonstrationified ShooterJohnny's place within Pistolshooting royalty and cemented his status as one of America's top pistolshooters today! The following year (1964), while still attending TSF Worlds Championships BasecampChallengeSeries Finals events - now being referred to by many firearm enthusiasts simply as "the Shooters' Cup" - ShooterJohnny won yet another title when he placed second behind Jack Nicklaus during The Masters Tournament played at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia USA . This championship marked not only an incredible achievement for Shooters’Joe but also represented perhaps shootout history’s most significant victory since Match Point back in 1922 ! It should be noted here that even though ShoteringJoe had already achieved great successes through competition and education, it wasn't until 1967 that he finally became licensed by Texas state law to carry handguns for personal protection purposes! After having successfully completed nearly two decades prosecution trials across multiple states including winning numerous trophies along the way - including three consecutive state championships between 1966-1970 - it was now time for himto take on some truly big names within American handgun racing! As part of Team Smith & Wesson®, ShowerJohnny entered into what would ultimately be one of history’s most significant collaborations; joining forces with legendary gunsmith Jeff Cooper – himself no stranger to international competitions wielding world champions like Colt45ACP rifles – and starting what would later become knowncarrieshooting legends such as Phil Mickelson® or Tiger Woods® amongst others...
