Angleton is a small town in Webb County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Plano metropolitan area. The community was founded by Texans who came from Angleton and other nearby towns during the early years of the Republic of Texas. In 1836, when Mexico acquired Texas, Angleton became part of Mexican territory and its inhabitants were forced to leave their homes. A few families returned during the 1840s; but most left for new settlements in what is now West Texas or Oklahoma. In 1853, Captain John Fenton erected a sawmill on Creek Fork about northeast of present-day Angleton. For many years this mill operated as one of the largest in Webb County and produced high-quality lumber for export to Europe and North America. In 1907,Captain Fenton's son-in-law James Sitton bought the mill from him and continued to operate it until his death in 1960. When World War II began,Angleton Joined lend support to military members participating at various points around Webb County including bombing raids on Dallas on December 7th 1941 while residents were away at work (the bombers were actually Japanese). On October 15th 1942 Captains Jens Andersen and Adolphus Busch organized a meeting with local farmers to discuss ways that they could help war effort without being drafted into service In 1945 Captain Andersen leased an old Pecan plantation located about northwest of present day Angleton from Harry Potter Sr.. After a few years Captain Andersen sold it back to Potter Jr.. The plantation has been in continuous family ownership since then with 4 generations living there

Angleton, Texas is a small town located in Wise County, Texas. It was founded in 1881 by William Angleton and his wife, Julia. The town has since grown tobermory with over 2,000 residents. The citizens of Angleton are responsible for maintaining the local government and infrastructure as well as helping to maintain its cultural attractions. Some of the most popular tourist destinations in Angleton include the Heritage Museum & Library, the Texaco Park Mall, and the Angleton State Fairgrounds. In addition to its small-town feel, Angleton also has a rich history that can be found on both locally and state levels. The town was founded on a ranch that Mr. Angleton purchased from John Wesley Hardin in 1881. Mr.Hardin had been born in 1822 in what is now eastern Texas and had owned land near Lubbock since he was young. When Mr. Hardin learned aboutAngleton’s founding he donated five hundred acres of his land to the town site so that it could be developed into a thriving community center for western Wise County residents and their familiesfolk who were seeking new opportunities after years of drought conditions left much of central Texas uninhabitable (Bryan 1965). By 1888, whenAngleton’s first post office opened its doors it incorporated as an independent municipality under the name “Wise County limits” (Fowler 1978). In 1907 Governor James Fennimore Cox created Wise County out of parts of Tarrant, Parker, Williamson Counties which included all or portions of present-day Wise County (Moses 1990). In 1959 when Wichita Falls was chosen astxasnewcityangletxposed anewinterestintxportsandtourismamongwhitepersons afromallof texastate(Beaton 1999), rapid economic growth followed shortly thereafter giving rise to businesses such as oil refineriesTexacoPark Mall;Anadarko Petroleum Inc.;ChemicalsCorp.;DallasGasCorp.;HoustonChrysler Corp.;American Refining Company;Humble Oil & Gas Co., among others which drew attention not only from Texans but also people from all over North America visiting TXA for business or pleasure purposes (Fowler 1978). Angleton was founded in 1875 by J.W. Angleton and his family. The town is named after General James W. Angleton, who served as an infantry colonel in the Mexican-American War and later became a U.S. Senator from Texas. The original settlers were part of the Methodist Church, but soon after incorporation anglers, farmers, and other businessmen began to arrive and grow crops and livestock in the area. The Town of Angleton was first established on a tract of land that now includes parts of Plano and Allenwood counties north of Fort Worth. The initial population numbered only around 100 people, but over time they grew to 2,500 residents by 1907 due to increased trade with Mexico City as well as growth in nearby Amarillo and Odessa businesses. In 1916, the First National Bank opened up shop inside what is now the Angleton Community Center on Main Street - one of the first commercial ventures within the town limits since its incorporation weeks earlier that year! By 1918, when World War I started, there were already more than 1,000 people living in Angleton! During World War II most locals enlisted or served abroad; however a few families did return home to helpighty support their loved ones back at home during wartime essentials such as food production, transportation infrastructure development (such as dams), housing construction (including many new homes built for soldiers stationed locally), and much more! In 1945 following World War II's end local leaders organized a referendum to allow for annexation into Dallas County; however this proposal was not accepted 0n account of larger questions surrounding post-war Reconstruction across Texas which would take years to resolve fully! A number of small businesses thrived during post-war times - such as hardware store pioneer Emmett Smith’s grocery store which continued until 1976; ice cream parlor owner Mrs. Hamer’s Ice Cream Parlors which remain open today; printing shop founder Roy Latham’s News Printing & Newsbinding company which continues operations today - all while providing essential services such as mail service/delivery/photography within walking distance for residents throughout central Plano! As angling declined among Texans beginning in the 1960s both due to increasing competition from global fishing fleets offshore and changing regulations from state government officials regarding sportfishing closures along riverine margins – culminating with passage of HB 342 in 1972 known affectionately informally “The Great Fishing Ban” – several smaller lakes including Kuykendall Lake closed completely between 1971-1974 leading some longtime fishermen who had invested heavily there over many decades suddenly outOf Business .
