The Andrews National Guard was organized in 1907 as the Texas Army National Guard. In 1940, it became the Texas Air National Guard and in 1965, it became the Texas Army National Guard. The unit was first activated for World War I on October 1, 1917 and served under General John J. Pershing until 1919 when it was disbanded due to budgetary cuts. When the war ended, the national guard unit returned to full strength and remained inactive until 1941 when it again mobilized for World War II under Colonel James A. Geyer. The army national guard unit served in North Africa from January 1942 to May 1943 before returning home to serve in Texas until 1946 when it was reorganized into a brigade-sized organization under Colonel Lewis H. Wickersham Jr.. After the war, there were many calls for the army national guard to be reactivated but they never did so because of budget restraints. During the Korean War, however, an all-volunteer force of 3,000 soldiers was raised and sent to South Korea as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear where they fought against North Korean forces. This operation is considered one of America’s most successful military interventions since start of hostilities and also resulted in return of prisoners-of-war (PoW) back home with U.S forces after years of captivity inside North Korea In 1969, there were plans for a major change within the armynationalguard bureaucracy which would result in a reduction in number of troops while increasing funding devoted towards equipment procurement instead which would lead to increased manpower requirements during peacetime only for budget constraints once again results in reduced troop numbers during wartime After more than 50 years service with only 9% annual attrition rate among its active duty component members (ADM), there has been no significant change within infantry or cavalry units within state militias since their inception through special operations/counterinsurgency missions or peacekeeping deployments however; these units have been rotated out or amalgamated with other state militia components on short notice or at very low levels over time

Andrews, Texas is a small town in the U.S. state ofTexas and is the county seat of Hockley County. It was founded on November 3, 1827 by John Andrews as a post office called "Hickory". Hickory was named for an oak tree that grew near the original site. The first settler in Andrews was James Denton, who arrived in 1828. The town has been continuously inhabited since then. A log cabin and cotton gin were built in 1830 by John Pemberton, and a courthouse and jail were erected in 1832 by Andrew Jackson Roberts. In 1865, local resident John Beall donated land to be the nucleus of what would become Andrews Municipal Airport which still serves today as one of the largest airports in Texas.
