On Feb. 15, 2019, the Andrews Air Force Base public affairs office released a gift history for the deployed forces in Texas. TheHistory states that since Jan. 2018, the air force has sent nearly $3 million in gifts to military installations around the state.
Andrews is a small town in Texas, located about 30 miles southeast of Lubbock. It was founded by George Andrews in 1871. The community has a population of about 1,200 people today and it is the county seat for Hudspeth County. George Andrews was born in Scotland in 1827 and immigrated to America in 1845. He became a lawyer and started his own law firm in Andrews. In 1886, he married Sarah Jane Calhoun, who was from nearby Carthage. They had five children: George Calhoun (1887-1973), Edwin Gentry (1889-1964), Myrtle Ethel Andrews (1892-1979), Alice Addie Andrews (1905-1994) and James Ellison Andrews Jr.(1909-1991). The following year, Andrew's son James Ellison died at the age of 15 while serving in World War I. This left Sarah Jane with six additional children to raise on her own behalf and she continued to work as a lawyer until her death in 1944. She is buried at Maplewood Cemetery near her husband. Andrew's community lasted through several hard times including the Civil War and The Great Depression; however, it bounced back during World War II when many southern businesses relocated to find new opportunities after being bombed out of business during the war years. After the war, things slowed down but slowly began to rebound again until the late 1990s when housing prices peaked and then crashed nationally due to global economic conditions. However, since 2000 things have slowly begun to improve with some new development projects starting up as well as more substantial job growth across all sectors which has helped keepAndrews relatively healthy over recent years despite challenges brought on by various external factors such as oil price spikes and other economic downturns that have hit most parts of Texas recently
The USAF deployed gift history in the early 1960s as a way to recognize and celebrate the service members who contribute to our country. The Deployed Gift History Program helps ensure that the military community has a unique and meaningful way to commemorate those who have served. Since its inception, the Deployed Gift History program has helped thank servicemen and women for their contributions by sending them gifts from across the USAF. Gifts can be anything from coffee mugs to hats. Some of the most popular items have been military-themed items such as dogtags or tattoos, but there are many others too. The program does not stop at gifts; it also includes giving back to servicemen and women through grants, donations, and volunteer work. In recent years, the program has even begun delivering presents directly to servicemen and women stationed overseas! This is an impressive feat considering that Delivery by Air Force(DBA) oftenentimes takes months or even years after a donation is made.

Andrews, Texas is a small town located in the southeastern corner of Texas. With a population of just over 1,200 people, Andrews has been inhabited by humans for over one hundred years. The first settlers in the area were farmers who arrived in the 1800s. The town was established on what is now known as Andrews Field Road, which was part of the original surveyed land that was included within present-day Austin and Travis counties. In 1836, Andrew’s Creek (now known as Brazos River) was named after General Sam Houston. This creek provided water to the settlement and later served as an important connection between Austin and Andrews. The early settlers were primarily Baptist missionaries who traveled throughout central Texas preaching Christianity to Native Americans and helping pioneer agricultural techniques. By 1840, about 20% of the town’s population consisted of African Americans. Many local banks were started during this time period with African American entrepreneurs contributing greatly to the economy of Andrews. Around 1850, there were also several schools opened in town including A&M Female Seminary (now Lamar University), Presbyterian School (now First Baptist Church), and Andrew Normal School (now Webster Institution). These schools helped stimulate economic development within the town and helped contribute to its growth into a small but influential community. In 1851, Alexander Hamilton donated land north of town to form what would become Parkland Memorial Park Cemetery which is still home to many local residents today. This donation also helped spur development around Parkland Memorial Park including new homes and businesses being erected along its periphery throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s. Additionally, Andrew Elementary School – now known as Parkside Middle School – was built on this same property in 1907/08 following a campaign initiated by local parents seeking an opportunity for their children to attend public school within walking distance from their homes instead of having to go outside for instruction opportunitiesidemarking a significant milestone in village history however it would not be permanently housed until 1984 when it re-opened under current name Parkside Middle School - Andrews Municipal Building
Andrews, Texas is located in the U.S. state of Texas. It was named for General James Andrews, who fought in the Mexican-American War and later became a U.S. Senator from New Mexico. The town was founded by cattle ranchers in 1881 and grew to become a small agricultural center with a population of about 2,000 people by 1910. The area now known as Andrews was annexed by Houston in 1936 and became part of the city limits of Houston.
