Amarillo coffee was first roasted in 1892 by Dutchman Cornelius van der Kolk. The town of Amarillo, Texas was founded in 1881 by German immigrants. The first coffee roasters in the area were J.H. Roemer and Sons, which operated from 1892 to 1951. In 1908, Harry Aiken opened the first grocery store in Amarillo and began selling ground coffee beans. By 1912, Aiken had also begun importing whole bean coffee from Europe. In 1923, physician Dr George Earle donated land to the city of Amarillo for a public health clinic and hospital. The cornerstone for the new building was laid on October 1st that year by Mayor John Fenton with assistance from Dr Earle himself.

The city was founded by Texans who moved from Fort Worth to Amarillo to escape Indian Removal policies during the 1850s. The first white person to set foot in what is now Amarillo was George Henderson on July 24, 1876. Henderson named his new land Texoma after himself and his friend and business partner Sam Houston. In 1901, when Colorado became a state, Amarillo became part of it; however, it reverted back to Midland County until 1907 when it became its own county seat under Act 2 of that year which also designated Mayfair as its new downtown district. In 1907–1910, due to heavy floods caused by rains from Tropical Storm Agnes (Flooding Event #2), much development took place only within the walls of City Hall or City Limits where streets were re-named for historical figures or events related thereto such as Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show at Park Square on October 15th 1910 In 1960, Region IV School District No. 211 merged with Area School District No 6 to form Conroe Independent School District No 1 which then went through another merger with Brazoria Independent School District No 5 in 2014 creating Brazoria ISD Amarillo was once known as "the Utopia" because it had no red light districts or gambling; this policy changed when prohibition began effective January 1st 1906 . On December 30th 1909 , Lamar Advertising Company Welch Bros Moving & Storage Co established their advertising office at 114 Main Street Corner Wilson Avenue inside what is now known as Old First National Bank Building; this building still stands today and houses various businesses including First National Bank Tower currently being used by American Express Company Headquarters

Columbus named the plant "coffea" after his ship's captain, Roque de Landa. The Dutch began importing Java beans in 1602 and soon started exporting them throughout Europe and Asia. By 1650, coffee had become one of the world's most valuable commodity crops. Coffee plantations were established all over Indonesia and Brazil during this time; these operations produced high quality beans that continue to be grown today. In 1810, Emperor Napoleon I introduced French espresso machines into France; this Revolutionized Coffee brewing and made French cafes world-renowned places to enjoy a cup of joe! During World War II, coffee became an important rationed foodstuff for Allied forces due to its high content of caffeine which helped keep soldiers awake during long campaigns across many different theaters of war. These early beans are said to have had a strong flavor and a smooth texture. Cup of Joe's Coffee Company opened its doors in 1922 in Newark, New Jersey. That same year, Italian immigrants Giovanni Bianchini and Salvatore Ferragamo started selling ground coffee from their home on Roslyn Avenue in Brooklyn. In 1927, Italian immigrant Angelo Bertoletti founded the Bertoletti Coffee Corporation in Bridgeport, Connecticut with his son-in-law Dino Petrini as president and general manager. This company became one of the largest roasters in the world. In 1929, American Express joined forces with Jellico Coffee to form American Express Coffee Company Inc., which became one of the most powerful coffee companies in the world. In 1951, Koffee Klatch co-founder Ebenezer Howard bought out American Express Coffee Company for $5 million dollars ($183 million today). The company grew rapidly under Howard's leadership; it produced over a hundred thousand sacks of coffee each day by 1957. In 1963, Dutch coffee giant Nestle merged with Jellico Coffee to become Econo Lodge AG (Econo Lodge being later acquired by PepsiCo). With this merger came extended production capabilities for both Nestle and Jellico Coffeeshops all over the world beginningOperation Moccasin Bend!
Amarillo (population: 104,247) is the largest city in Texas and the seat of Amarillo County. It is located on the Arkansas River in central Texas and straddles the border of Colorado. The population growth rate since 2000 has been 6%. The first Europeans to visit what is now Amarillo were French traders who set up a trading post in 1794. The town was founded by Captain John Crain in 1828 as Fort Worth. In 1854, it became part of Texas when it was split off from Mexico. In 1907, Amarillo became a consolidated city with El Paso and Chihuahua after they seceded from Mexico. The city's rich oil and gas history began with its discovery of oil near Comanche Lake in 1901. Production increased rapidly throughout World War II, but peaked at 1 million barrels per day in 1945 because of the war effort. However, production declined during the postwar years as technology improved and competition from other oil-producing states increased. In 1951, Amarillo annexd Hudspeth County; this annexation led to a decline in industry until 1978 when deregulation caused an increase in production that continues to this day. In 2002, Amarillo voters passed an ordinance establishing itself as an independent city separate from TX state government
