In the town of Alvin, Texas, an air force deployed gift history was initiated in 2007 when the first American Aerospace Command (AAC) Base here became home to the Air Force's Second Bomb Division. The division was established at Wright-Patterson AFB and it has become one of the most significant wings within the USAF. It is responsible for providing strategic bombardment support for Joint Forces Headquarters US Naval Forces Europe and nuclear deterrence operations againstrogue nations. The Wing currently has nine squadrons active with a total strength of more than 4,000 personnel. In addition, two Air Force Thunderbirds flew into Baghdad International Airport on 5th September 2006 as part of Operation Noble Eagle 2003 which was aimed at disrupting terrorist activities inside Iraq before Uprising Day celebrations were planned by Sunni insurgents who had taken control over much of central Baghdad weeks earlier.

Alvin, Texas, is a town located in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,887 at the 2010 census. Settled in 1881 by west Texans from San Antonio and Refugio County,[1] the town was named for Pvt. Alvin C. Hargrave who served with Company G of the 7th Infantry Regiment during World War I. In 1924, local banker J.W. Maynard donated land to form a community development corporation which developed the town into a thriving commercial center and agricultural center within 10 years.[2][3] The cotton gin produced more than one million pounds (454 metric tons) of cotton until it was replaced by a wind turbine in 2006.[4] A major event in Alvin's history occurred on October 15, 1938 when Japanese bombers bombed Pearl Harbor just shy of its centennial celebration anniversary. A group of local citizens banded together to erect a large wooden cross on Main Street in memory of those killed or wounded as part of the attack and also to remember their home country's wartime sacrifices. The cross still stands today and is one of only two remaining examples of its kind in Texas.[5][6][7]
