They sold their first cup ofelia (now Known as Kona Coffee) from their home in Alice on the banks of the Arkansas River. In 1934, Harry and Helen opened a second location in Fort Worth. They continued to roast their own beans and sell them through local businesses until they passed away in 1975. Their legacy continues to be felt today as many people in Alice enjoy brewed coffee from the original Harry and Helen Smith location.
