The shop continued to operate until it closed its doors in 1904. From then on, the business activity within Alice centered around selling firearms and ammunition to local residents. In 1915, a new store was opened by J.B. Hodge and his wife, Nellie Bowers Hodge, which remain as the oldest continuously operating gun store in Alice today. From here on out, the business resided within Hodge’s family for over seventy years until it passed away in 1993. The Gun Shop at 5th & Haskell Streets reopened in 1978 under the ownership of Donnie Barker and his wife Patsy Goodrich Barker. It operated until 2005 when it was sold to Freddy Martinez and Dean McGee who ran it for eleven years before closing it down once again due to lack of customership. The store currently resides inside of Local Motorsports located on FM 3015 just east of I-10 near US 281/US 287!

Alice, Texas is a town in Collin County, Texas, United States. The population was 597 at the 2010 census. Alice was founded in 1881 by John and Sarah Glasscock. It was named after Alice Chandler, who settled there in 1859. The first post office opened in Alice on October 17, 1881.
Alice, Texas was founded in 1876 by a group of farmers from the neighboring town of Denton. The town was named for Alice, one of the daughters of Colonel John Fenton and Mrs. Mary McCulloch. The new community was located on the then-untested stretch of the Colorado River between present day Alice and Frio counties. The first post office in Alice opened in 1877. In 1881, a sawmill was built in Alice and began producing lumber. By 1886, there were 10 businesses in Alice with a population of 100 residents. A stagecoach line ran through Alice from 1901 to 1912; it is now known as the Loop Line Railroad Museum train ride. In 1906, Alice had 12 stores, 11 schoolhouses and 9 churches; it also boasted mineral rights for oil production on the riverbanks east of its location. In 1916, when World War I began, General Douglas MacArthur's forces invaded Mexico at Vera Cruz; as part of his campaign to capture that country he ordered his troops to cross over into Texas along the Rio Grande River near Nacogdoches (now Corpus Christi). As part of this diversionary attack across the river an airfield was constructed at Nacogdoches; today'sAlice AFB is located within that same area which served as MacArthur's winter headquarters during his campaign against Mexican President Francisco Madero
