In 1892, Addison, Texas became the first municipality in the United States to establish a police department. The department was under the direction of Captain John S. Hogue and Lt. J.F. Madden. The first gift given to the Addison Police Department was a horse from Captains Hogue and Madden. In 1896, an officer's sword was given to the department by Major General George Armstrong Custer and it is still in use today by Addison Police Department officers. In 1907, a revolver was donated by Captain John S. Hogue and Lt. J F Madden for use by Officers on patrols throughout the city limits of Addison . In 1922, a Patrol Car was donated by Mayor A W Sprague and it is still in use today as part of the police force of Addison . From 1925-1927, two handguns were gifted to the department by Major General Edward Movedy Sr., Commander of American Forces in Europe during World War II . These weapons were used as ceremonial gifts at functions held at City Hall prior to military training exercises which took place there

Addison is a small town in Bowie County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,653 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Addison is located in eastern Bowie County at (30.019358, -98.336252). It has an elevation of .According to the2010 US Census, Addison had a total population of 1,653. Of that number 712 are considered “minority” and 535 are white non-Hispanic residents according to the 2000 US Census data reflectingurbedian race/ethnicity as well as Hispanic origin (of any race). As of 2006 there were also 9% black people living in Addison which was below the statewide average of 12%. The soils near Addison are alluvial sandstone and shale with some limestone present. The main water supply for Addisons comes from two creeks: White Oak Creek and Alligator Creek. These creeks run through rural areas forming but not completely encompassing Addisons core village center or central business district – much like many other towns in Texas today. In recent years residential development has spread rapidly outward into these rural areas agricultural land formerly used for farming continues to be valuable farmland providing much needed access to groundwater as well as natural gas fields just north and east of town on government land next to Arlington International Airport serving much southern Richardson County including Garland and Mesquite The first permanent settler in what is now Addison was James McMurtry who arrived about 1836 from Kentucky via Missouri City in Nueces County The first store opened for business here about 1838 by John Sibley who ran it until his death about 1860 Another early settler named James Fenton arrived around 1840 from North Carolina he did some farming before moving into mercantile pursuits He operated a store here until his death circa 1850 . Mr Fenton's son John opened another store called "Fenton's Emporium" on Main Street near Memorial Park southwest of town later renamed Preston Road after him in 1892 This operation continued until 1918 when it closed due to prohibitionism by local prohibitionists

Addison is a small town located in McLennan County, Texas. The population was 5,242 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Addison is named after Major General James A. Addison who fought in the Mexican-American War and was a brigadier general in the Union army. The first store in Addison opened on October 12, 1836 by John Waddell and his wife Mary Ann Waddell. As early as 1838, there were three stores in Addison with one each from Prentice, Caldwell and Hargrave families. In 1845, George Denton opened a grocery store in town which became known as Denton's Store until it closed down in 1937. In 1865, Jno Lunsford built the first school district south of Houston and added Addison to it. In 1870-71 Simeon Tatum built an addition to his home that served as the first high school for Addisons students when it was founded. The first post office opened in Addison on July 17, 1876 with Elisha Peake as its first mail carrier and four other businesses inside including two saloons One Saloon of Tom Brown operated by Irishman John McClure had been open since before 1840 The railroad came to town during the late 1800s when Fort Worth Railway began construction through McLennan County towards Dallas along what would become known as the Central Railroad of Texas (CRT). When Texans voted on November 8th 1886 to create their own state they decided not to join Mexico so all railroads within their borders were nationalized becoming Texian Railroads When Lyndon B Johnson became President he announced plans for Interstate Highway System which included Interstates 10 and 35 which connected Dallas with Houston via Interstate 20 Texian Railroads began making money off of IHW traffic but also lost many business customers when those roads were built withoutInterstate 15 connecting Midland and Wichita Falls making them less competitive Addition made sense because it would be close to IHW bypassing downtown while still being within state boundaries so development could continue . On December 1st 1970 annexation occurred resulting from this decision
