Addison is a small town in Texas. It was founded in 1879 by Addison Emory. The population of Addison peaked at over 10,000 during the 1930 census, but has since declined to around 7,500 today. The main industries in Addison are agriculture and retail trade. The community is located just outside of Austin, Texas. Addison is named after John Addison, a British general who served in the Mexican-American War and as governor of New Mexico Territory. In 1881, when Iowa City became the capital of Texas, John Addison donated land to create the city block that contains Addisons Square today. In 1886, local merchant James Cockerill donated land for a shopping center on what is now Elm Street. This shopping mall still exists and is used by locals and tourists alike today. Additions Elementary School was established in 1965 as one of two schools within the original boundaries of Addision when it merged with neighboring Green Oaks Elementary School to form an all-encompassing PreK-12 school district known as "Addisons" which encompasses portions of Round Rock (northwest Austin), Cedar Park (southwest Austin), Manor (east Austin), Temple Hills (southwest Temple Hills), Montrose (east Montrose) and parts of Georgetown (north central Georgetown). In 1969–70 an addition to adjacent Polk Elementary School resulted in Polk becoming overcrowded so another elementary school - Lakeside Elementary - was constructed on property north of South Lamar Boulevard west of Interstate 35W near Lake Travis Parkway between Loop 1604 eastbound lanes and Long Branch Road westbound lanes . Today's Lakeside Secondary School serves students across LaBelle Ave., Bowie Rd., North Lamar Blvd., Saginaw Rd./SR 26 W., LBJ Freeway eastbound lanes westbound lanes & Willowbrook Dr southpaw Lane These additional rooms were added along with two new classrooms within Polk itself to meet space needs & To increase accessibility for specialneeds students thru Physical Education programs housed inside____________________________________________________________ Lake Travis Parkway renamed I-35W after President Lyndon B Johnson monument will serve as Memorial Garden across street

Addison is a town in Lampasas County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Addison began as a small community on the banks of the Brazos River. It grew rapidly after railroads arrived in the area and saw an influx of people from New Mexico and Kansas in the early 19th century. Addison's growth continued through the Progressive Era and into World War I when it became one of twenty-six American towns to sign up for military service. In 1958, Addison renamed itself "Addison Township". The creation of Addison made it one of two towns in Lampasas County that were not originally part of robbery or cattle theft districts during the original robberies wave that swept Texas during the 1890s – other towns were Humble (later Humbleton) and Brenham (later Brownwood). This was due to an amendment to the Texas Constitution approved by voters on November 3, 1892 which granted voting rights to "free negroes living within limits prescribed by law." Addison's incorporation as a town occurred on December 5, 1912 following a vote by residents over objections from neighboring towns that argued that they would lose business if their namesake city became more populous. The original boundaries of Addison included only those portions of present-day Lampasas County east of Interstate 10 north of US 287 and west of FM 1536; all other areas were annexed by nearby Beaumont around 1920. The rapid growth associated with railroad arrival combined with demand for land resulting in many farm subdivisions being created throughout Addison Township over time including: Fannin Heights subdivision (1915), Sunny Hills subdivision (1920), Creekside Heights subdivision (1925), Plaza Park subdivision (1927), Lakeside Drive subdivision (1945), Golden Oaks subdivision (1950). Today there are still numerous subdivisions available within Addisons borders although much less has been done with regards to revival or redevelopment efforts as most properties have long been abandoned or used for agricultural purposes only. addisons history can be traced back to 1892 when amendments allowing voting rights for "colored free negroes" were ratified via referendum. Shortly thereafter businesses opened up throughout what is now known as Addison demanding more access to education and opportunity than had ever been available before - this led eventually to annexation by neighboring Beaumont around 1920 after years of petitioning from residents who felt they lost out because their own township wasn't growing as quickly as theirs did
