The United States Air Force deployed a gift to Addison, Texas in 1941. The gift was an airplane and its crew. This plane was donated by the North American Aviation Company to the United States Air Force in 1941. The plane is still in use today and is known as the "P-51 Mustang". Addison residents had long been interested in aviation. On December 6th, 1941, representatives from the United States Air Force gathered at Addison Municipal Airport for a ceremonial event to inaugurate the new P-51 Mustang fighter planes donated by North American Aviation Company. The planes were brought down from Canada and flew into Addison Municipal Airport for display. The event was attended by dignitaries and local residents including Mayor Harry Ladd, Jr., County Judge John O'Connell, Mrs. Jane Haggerty, Miss Florence Fenton, Mr. Harvey Kellar and Colonel James Doolittle of the U.SAAF! The P-51 Mustang became famous throughout World War II due to its ability to fly at high speeds and support large formations of fighters during aerial combat against Nazi Germany's Luftwaffe air forces. In 1945, many P-51 Mustangs were sold off to other countries after their service with the USAF ended; however, one remains on display at Lackland AFB (TX) as part of the National Museum of American Military History's collection of military aircraft!

Addison is a small town in McLennan County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2000 census. Addison is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. Addison is located on FM 1960 about 20 miles (32 km) east of downtown Dallas. According to the 2010 census, the racial makeup of Addison was 84% White, 10% African American, and 0% Native American. The local newspaper is The Fort Worth Star-Telegram and it has been published since 1885. It covers news from all over Fort Worth County including Arlington and Camp Bowie within McLennan County as well as events happening in neighboring counties such as Vernon and Grand Prairie. Addison was founded by Reuben Hurd in 1881 when he bought 100 acres (40 ha) of land near present-day Fair Park for $5 per acre ($ today). He named his new town after his friend and business partner James Addison who had also helped purchase the land from Hurd's father-in-law. In 1902, Drury Waddell became president of Baylor University which made Addison an important college town with many students commuting to campus from surrounding townships and rural areas. Gertrude Ewing laid out what would becomeADDISON'S FIRST HIGH SCHOOL - now known as East High School - in 1928 on property donated by her husband John Ewing. The AF's History Division is responsible for archiving and preserving the USAF's deployed gift history. Since 1947, when the USAF was formed as a result of World War II, theAAF has deployments in every corner of the world. In fiscal year 2016, there were more than 1,700 active duty USAF members stationed in over 150 countries around the world. This deployment lifetime exceeds any other branch of our military by far. Some examples of USAF gifts to local communities include: providing humanitarian assistance to disaster-ravaged areas; donating equipment and supplies to needy individuals or organizations; conducting airshows and special events in support of military missions or global peacekeeping efforts; and awarding scholarships to deserving students. Each deployment provides unique opportunities for service members to connect with their fellow citizens on a personal level. In addition, through its Specialty Programs Branch (SPB), which oversees many unique programs that contribute significantly to national security or public interest, the AF manages an extensive range of Gifts That Help program initiatives that donate resources or time away from paid duties for local causes or events. Addison is a small town in south Texas, located about 25 miles east of Austin. The population was 7,836 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Tarrant County and lies on the eastern edge of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Addison was founded in 1837 by John Addison, an Englishman who had come to Texas as a cattle drover. The first post office was established in Addison in 1838. In 1849, Addison became a part of the newly formed district of Dallas. The city experienced rapid growth during World War II when it became one of the principal sites for production of B-29 bombers for the United States Army Air Forces. In 1957, Addison annexed portions of neighboring McKinney to form a new city called McKinney-Addison which had a population of 17,000 residents. The annexation resulted from efforts by then- Mayor James Sitton to expand services within his municipality and increase economic development opportunities for Addisons residents. However, mayor Sitton resigned after being indicted on bribery charges that were later dropped). On July 1, 2013, Tarrant County Judge Clay Jenkins ruled that McKinney-Addision must be dissolved because its population size conflicted with that of Addisons proper

Addison's growth followed a pattern seen across many frontier towns: settlers brought their herds of livestock and crops to the area, which grew into a bustling town with markets and businesses. In 1907, Addison became the county seat of Robertson County and remained that way until 1923 when it was moved to Lubbock.
