When Abilene, Texas was founded in 1881 as a small town of 25 residents, coffee was the only beverage available. The first coffee shop opened in 1883 and it was called the Coffee House. In 1886, the first K-Cup coffee brewer appeared on Abilene's Main Street and began serving coffee to local businesses. In 1914, an experimental blend of French press and Arabic water brewing became popular in the Austin area and soon spread to Abilene. By 1929, all K-Cups were marketed under the "Abilene COFFEE COMPANY" name. A variety of new products were introduced over time including flavored creams (chocolate, strawberry etc.), hot chocolate mixes (foam or milk), pre-packaged decaf pods (Chocolate Rain®, Vanilla Thunder®), soy milkMilk & Honey($2/bag) and now sweetened condensed milk ($1/$4). In 1996, ABILENE COFFEE COMPANY merged with PERFECT WORLD COFFEE GROUP LLC to become Perfect World Coffee Group Incorporated. The city of Abilene, located in the U.S. state of Texas, was founded on November 4, 1867 by James W. Hogg and his wife Anna Maria Hogg. The town grew rapidly due to its location at the junction of two major trails: the Santa Fe Trail and the Texan Railroad. By 1888, Abilene had a population of over 200 residents and was serving as a center for trade and commerce within nearby Austin. In 1907,Abilene became a city under the provisions of the Texas Municipal Improvement Act (TMIA). Under this legislation, cities were given greater autonomy and were allowed to establish their own police departments and other municipal functions without Sharecropping Laws being repealed or changed in any way. During World War II, Abilene played an important role in providing food for military personnel stationed in Central Texas. In 1945, local businesses donated 1 million bushels of corn to support troops during World War II; this event is now known as "The Corn Crib." In 1967, plans were made to move the University of Texas at Austin from Austin to Abilene; however, these plans were scrapped due to opposition from many in Austin who felt that UT should remain in downtown Austin. In 1978-79, a $55 million dollar bond issue was passed which funded various improvements such as new roads and sidewalks along with anti-crime initiatives including creation of a citywide watch program. These measures helped spur economic development within the city while also creating jobs throughout Abilene. In 1984-85, Mayor Ron Ness decided that it would be better for Abileneto secede from TXA altogether because he felt that UT's policies were not benefiting his municipality properly; this decision led to some conflict between downtown residents and ABQ officials later on when Ness moved back into office after leaving politics behind him

The city grew quickly due to its strategic location and growing trade with Mexico. In 1839, the Mexican government ceded Abilene to the United States for $10,000. The city became an important transportation hub during the American Civil War because it offered a route from Missouri to Texas. After the war, Abilene experienced rapid growth as a result of its role as a center for commerce and education. In 1907, Abilene became the first municipality in Texas to adopt Prohibitionism.
