From then on, Springfield students continued to attend Corinthian High School until 2009 when they moved into new buildings on campus. The Old Timers were instrumental in helping get this important event off to a good start by fundraising money and planning everything from furniture shipment to hiring teachers. They also donated land adjacent to First Baptist Church so that future schools could be built there as well. Today, First Baptist Church still stands as one of Springfield's most iconic landmarks and is home to many local businesses including Hooters restaurant and Moe's Tavern which has been open since 1886! One aspect of history that is often forgotten about Springfield is its role as a center for slave trading during the antebellum period. This activity took place near where now- demolished buildings stand used as warehouses during this time period.
