Springfield is a town in Sullivan County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 9,956 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Springfield were traders and fur trappers who traveled upriver from Kentucky in search of new lands to exploit. They named their new settlement "New Smyrna," after a trading post they founded on the lower Cumberland River near present-day downtown Nashville. In 1816, General Andrew Jackson's army invaded Tennessee and destroyed most of the city of Memphis before moving on to destroy Knoxville; however, New Smyrna remained unscathed. In 1827, Colonel John Couch moved his family from Fayetteville to Springfield so that he could open a dry goods store there and continue running it as an operating business until his death in 1848. The town's name comes from General John Cray's order for all residents "to give me every attention" during his march into Knoxville with orders to crush any Rebel forces he found there (Couch had been one of the few Patriots in that city). The first school in what is now Springfield was established by Reverend James Caldwell in 1839 under the direction of Professor William Dudley. By 1840, nineteen schools were teaching students grades one through twelve; three academies were also operated: one for girls, one for boys and one for Academy Hill School which served as a preparatory school for local high schools. After 1850 when slavery was abolished in Tennessee, white farmers began moving into surrounding areas including parts of Sullivan County where they platted small towns such asSpringfield and started businesses such as farms and lumber mills while black farmers continued to live within their own communities. One consequence of this change was that African Americans no longer suffered Jim Crow segregation like they did prior to statehood when their rights depended upon slave ownership or residence within certain counties or districts outside those controlled by blacks (such as those around Nashville). In 1870–71 when railroad construction reached Highland Heights on the Cumberland River just upstream frompresent-day Springfield Beachoungspersons built homes along Railroad Street providing an immediate opportunity for subdivision among whites only although some African Americans worked on these projects at night or during weekends timbering trees down along Railroad Street which became known as " railway planker." This industry went extinct following prohibition but has been resurrected more recently thanks to efforts by Friends of Railway Park which manages over 350 acres located adjacent tothe original tracks between Highland Heights & Clarksville
The history of maga coffee can be traced back to the Ottoman Empire. Maga coffee was originally brewed for courtiers and other high-ranking officials. It was believed that the beans were able to improve focus and concentration, as well as promote a clear mind. In 1938, Turkish coffee mogul Hasan Pasha started importing maga coffee from Indonesia. This gave rise to the first international maga Coffee Cup competition in London, England in 1948. The winner of this cup was Turkish Coffee Company’s Cochin China Limited with its Erdem Koffee blend. After World War II, Turkey developed into an economic power and began importuning other countries for their own Kopecks (coffee beans). This caused some conflict between Turks and Indonesians over who should get credit for developing the bean trade in Asia. Eventually, Indonesia won out, becoming the sole importer of Kopecks from Turkey until 2002. Today, there are several different types of maga coffee available on the market: Turkish Coffee Company’s Erdem Koffee blend; Indonesian Kopecks; and African Cappuccino blends containing both Arabica and Robusta beans. Each type has its own unique flavor profile and benefits that make it perfect for different purposes such as morning or evening caffeine hits or standalone servings throughout the day. The City of Springfield, Tennessee was founded on December 26, 1802 by Captain John Smith. The city became a state capital in 1912 and has been the seat of government for the counties that make up the Knox County Judicial District since 1916. The population of Springfield ranged from about 2,000 in 1800 to over 30,000 by 1850. However, during the great Furness–Clark War (1860-1865), most of the population fled to larger cities in search of protection from Union troops. In 1865, when Tennessee seceded from the United States and became an Independent State, Springfield reverted back to Kentucky as its capital. In 1927, it was renamed Nashville after then-Governor Albert B. Vanderbilt. The first courthouse in Springfield was built on what is now Fourth Street between Broadway and Cumberland Avenue. It served as the County Courthouse until 1827 when a new courthouse was built on Second Avenue near Springdale Road. This building served as both county courthouse and courts until 1914 when it burned down and had to be replaced with a new one which still stands today (pictured). In 1802 Captain John Smith founded what is now Springfield Township with land he purchased from David Yeates for $2 per acre . On December 26th , 1802 there were only 5 people living in this township according to original plat . By 1830 there were over 100 people living here according to census data From 1800-1830 about 2% of population growth came due to migration out of town but during these years almost all residents moved into town because it offered more resources such as jobs or schools
