Springfield, Tennessee is a small town located in the eastern United States. It was founded in 1821 by twelve pioneer families from Kentucky and Virginia. The first settler, James W. Garland, purchased land on the east side of Springfield Creek from the Cherokee Nation for $10 per acre.
