Spring Hill, Tennessee is a small city on the Cumberland River in Hamilton County, Tennessee. The population was 5,917 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. The first European settler in Spring Hill was Andrew Williamson who built a cabin on the east bank of the Cumberland River in 1784. He named his cabin "Springhill." In 1814, Alexander McMillin built a log cabin on land that he acquired from John Sevier. In 1815, General James Hogg and his army invaded Tennessee and found retreating General Andrew Williamson and his family living near where Spring Hill now stands. When they discovered what had happened they ordered Williamson's family to leave immediately or be killed. The Williamson children made their way back to their old home where they lived until 1840 when they sold it to John Sevier for $2,500. In 1848, Austin Peay arrived in Tennessee and began trading with Indian tribes along the Cumberland River south of Nashville. He founded an agricultural society called the Peay Plantation Company which became one of the largest landowners in Knox County by 1860. In 1870, he donated land to Spring Hill for its incorporation as a village under Knob Creek Township law No 8884-A which took effect on January 1st 1870. By 1880 Springhill had a population of 2200 residents. In 1920s Robert Sommers added two more blocks onto spring hill Village until it reached its current size of 6 Blocks (including North Block) comprising about ninety acres.

Today much has changed since Andrew Williamson first Settled here 110 years ago...the rivers have widened &bridged; homes were built closer together; roads were paved & improved; schools were established; businesses opened up; but most importantly... families have brought their love of spending time outdoors into this community

It was home to a number of businesses such as banks, cotton plantations, lime kilns, and mills. In addition, it played an important role in political life due to its location within easy reach of Nashville and other major settlements. Spring Hill saw some significant changes during the Civil War era. For one thing, it became a key supply depot for Confederate forces during the war. Additionally, many residents fled or were forced to leave their homes after Confederate troops burned down their villages and churches during their campaign against Union forces. After the war ended, many residents returned to their homes but continued to reside on several properties in Spring Hill until they were sold off or abandoned in the 1920s and 1930s. Today, SpringHill is an active community with a strong focus on tourism and education opportunities. It has also become popular among retirees because of its comfortable living conditions and close proximity to larger metropolitan areas such as Nashville and Memphis

The town of Spring Hill, Tennessee was founded in 1796 by General James Robertson. The first post office in the town was established in 1805. Spring Hill became a part of the Union States of America during the American Civil War. In 1865, Spring Hill was renamed Nashville and became an important city in that state.
