Soddy Daisy is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee. It is located on the banks of the Cumberland River and was founded in 1857 by J.D. Soddy and his family. The name means "snowy place" in the local language, and the community has been named for its natural resources, including snow-capped mountains to the east and west, as well as a number of waterfalls. Soddy Daisy is also known for its historically significant buildings, including an old courthouse that was built in 1875, a Methodist church dating back to 1907, and a schoolhouse that was built in 1865. The town also features several residences dating from before World War II, as well as a cemetery filled with remains of soldiers killed during the war. Today Soddy Daisy is home to around 350 residents and it continues to grow thanks to its close proximity to two major metropolitan areas – Nashville and Memphis – as well as its strong economy which depends on agriculture and other industries. There are several businesses located within walking distance of each other, making it easy for residents to get involved in their community’s affairs. In addition, there are numerous festivals each year that bring people together from all over Tennessee for various events such as music concerts or arts shows.

Soddy Daisy is a small town in Knox County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,646 at the 2010 census. Soddy Daisy is located on the eastern bank of the Little River, east of Knoxville and north of Chattanooga. The first permanent settler in what is now Soddy Daisy was James Duddy who arrived in 1814. The community began as a post office named for Samuel Sprague Soddy, an early settler in this area. In 1837, John Witherspoon built a store and mill on the current site of Soddy Daisy. Witherspoon's store operated until 1862 when it burned down. In 1868 Jno Cockerill bought the store from Witherspoon and continued to operate it until his death in 1916. In 1865 Tennessean editor David Humphreys moved to Soddy Daisy from Memphis and started publishing The Tennessean newspaper which has been published continuously since that time by members of the Humphrey family including my ancestor David Humphreys Jr.. Additionally, many local businesses were founded during this time such as Joe's Shoes (1912), Pritchett's Tavern (1915), Coca-Cola Bottling plant (1920), and Blackburn Hardware & Supply Company (1920). The first post office here was established on October 3rd, 1837 by Samuel SpragueSoddy with James Duddy serving as Postmaster. It served for one year before being discontinued due to difficultiesablishing postal service between two feuding factions within the community over postage rates! The second post office here was established on November 15th 1840 by John Witherspoon with Elisha Chisum serving as Postmistress concurrent with their father’s initial establishment! This new post office remained open until 1862 when it caught fire due to an accidental light switch being turned off! James Duddy had five children: James B., Samuel Sprague Jr., Sarah Jane (De Witt), John Sims Duddy III(), Ebenezer Chisum Duddy Sr.. Born about 1800 near present day Dalton, Georgia; died December 10th 1860 at age 71 years old at home near Knoxville TN; married Anna French on February 13th 1830 at Church Plantation near Lookout Mountain North Carolina; mother of Ebenezer Chisum II born April 30th 1830 just outside Dalton GA & wife Catharine Marshall who died March 8th 1863 aged 41 years old at home; father of Ebenezer Chisum I born September 24th 1802near present day Gadsden AL & wife Martha Ann Parrish who died January 5th 1865 aged 54 years old both buried along side parents
Soddy Daisy is a small community in Knox County, Tennessee. It was founded in 1892 by white farmers and settlers who named it after a favorite spot on their farmstead where they would take their morning coffee. The name stuck and the community grew rapidly until World War II when it was destroyed by a fire. Today, the only remaining structure from the original town is the Post Office which was built in 1904.
