The United States Air Force has a long and interesting history in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee. The USAF's first Base in the area was at Bagdad Air Force Base, which opened in 1945. From then until 1990, Bagdad was home to the 9th Fighter Wing. After that base closed, the 9th FW moved to Whiteman AFB in Kansas City and the 1st Fighter Wing took its place. Today, there are three USAF Bases located in Soddy Daisy: Whiteman AFB (closed 1992), Hume Air Force Base (1999-2002), and Beechcraft A-4 Skyhawks (2006-present). Soddy Daisy is one of several small towns in Eastern Tennessee that have been home to USAF Units for generations. Dayton even used to be an RAF Station - RAF Dynevor operated from here from 1948 until 1976. The town's proximity to NAS Memphis – home of Randolph Air National Guard Base – made it a natural choice for ADC Headquarters during World War II. In addition, nearby Decatur served as an airfield for the Tuskegee Airmen during their training program early 1940s before being transferred to Army Air Forces control. It should also be noted that many active duty USAF units were stationed at nearby Goodlettsville AFB while they underwent conversion or conversions into wings/bases/ numbered units etc., such asactivatedin 1955 when HQ Fifteenth AF became wing HQ Ninth AF; activatedin 1957 when Sixth AF became wing Third AF; activatedand reactivatedin 1960 respectively when FirstAF became wing SecondAF following activation of Eighth AF on 30 Jun 60].

The USAF traces its origins to World War I, when America entered the conflict as a belligerent nation without any air or naval forces of its own. In 1917, Congress passed the National Defense Act, which authorized creation of an air force within the Department of War. The first planes were flown by pilots from Army aviation units in 1918. The Air Service was activated on July 1, 1919. On November 3, 1920 President Woodrow Wilson signed into law the National Security Act Amendments 2nd Session chaptered "An act to organize and fund a national military organization for aerial purposes." This act created today's USAF by creating two new branches: Aeronautical Forces (AF) and Ground Forces (GF). With American entry into World War II it was decided that the USAAF would be equipped with strategic bombers rather than fighter aircraft designed specifically for combat against Nazi Germany. This decision led to a rapid expansion in bomber production throughout 1941-1944 including over 50% of all Bomber Command production during that time period. By 1944 American bombers had devastated more German cities than any other ally combined! After Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941 USAAF planners decided that strategic bombing would become their primary mission and began developing strategic targets list (STL) procedures for Operation Overlord which aimed to destroy major industrial centers in Europe as part of the Allied effort to win World War II overall. However RAF Bomber Command bombed almost all key targets in England resulting in great loss of life with little damage done except for some minor industrial sites near London! In fact so many people lost their lives as a result of Bomber Command attacks that RAF Combined Operations called them "the best sexploitation campaign ever mounted" In 1945 Congress passed Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Bill No 511 which provided money to keep AF operational until May 1st 1946 when it would be merged into Strategic Air Command under Eisenhower's administration. With AF now operated under two separate wings (Aerospace Forces Command and Tactical Air command), there followed another rapid expansion in aircraft production leading up to post-war restrictions placed upon USAF members by then Joint Chiefs OF Staff who felt preventative warfare should no longer rely exclusively upon bombers but instead employ fighters and missiles as well! With this increase in armament came also an increased demand for crew training facilities; however these were not always available or affordable so crews underwent basic flying training at home prisons like Lackland AFB Texas while they awaited their deployment overseas! In 1947 AF became responsible for procurement operations within Aerospace Forces commands with responsibility also given to Tactical Air Commands - this gave rise to further boom times within both winged programs with added bonuses for those commanders who could successfully procure high value items such as jets etc... However stable things seemed until 1969 when Watergate broke out resultantin Nixon being impeached along with his Vice President Spiro Agnew leaving America withoutits top military official until January 20th 1971 when Aquilino Videla became Secretary Of Defense effective February 9th 1971 bringing about a returnto stability within USAF gift history . Although skies remain cloudy today there has been recent news reports indicating increasing Russian activity off our coasts involving submarines using technology supplied by Lockheed Martin Robertson Space Systems Incorporation ! So what does this mean for future USAF gift history? It means we will likely continue seeing rapid expansions Within both Aeronautical Forces & Ground Forces programs providing even more opportunity for commanders To improve equipment availability And ensure success against adversaries
