Smyrna is a small city located in Hardin County, Tennessee. Smyrna was founded in 1853 by William Smyrna and his brother-in-law, John Ladd. The first post office in Smyrna was established in 1857. Smyrna has been the county seat of Hardin County since 1875. The population of Smyrna was 381 at the 2010 census. The history of Smyrna began with the settlement of two families, the McMasters and McCombs, who were farmers and traders along the Cumberland River Valley. In 1792, James Robertson built a log cabin on what is now known as White Road near present day Highway 157. The Roberthons named their settlement after their father-in-law, Andrew McAfee, who had settled nearby in 1781. By 1835, Andrew's son John had moved to Smyrna and erected a store on Main Street which continued to be operated until 1861 when it closed due to competition from larger stores opening up along the river valley. In 1853, William Smyrnan settled down on land east of downtown which he called "the farm." He soon realized that this location would not work as a town because there wasn't enough space for him and his family to live together comfortably; he also lacked an easily accessible water supply and transportation options existed only within walking distance or driving distance for most people in those days. He therefore decided to move his family to another location where they could establish a more permanent home and begin trading goods with other settlers throughout the area. His brother-in-law John Ladd then decided to move his business north upriver towards Lebanon so that he could be closer to customers as well as have access to good soil for growing crops outside of town limits (Laddsville). In 1865, after years of hard work building new homes on various parcels of land northeast of downtown (now known as First Avenue), William Smyrnans finally achieved success when he opened up what is now known as "The Market", one of Hardinsville's first commercial businesses - serving primarily local farmers throughout much of central Tennessee until at least 1920! Throughout its history – starting with just two families settling down around 1800 – Smyrrnas has experienced many ups and downs but has always managed to remain vibrant community spiritually and economically thanks chiefly to its deep rooted historical roots combined with today's supportive infrastructure including several dozen restaurants/cafes/bars/shops/medical services etc., making it one OF THE MOST CELEBRATED COMMUNITIES IN TENNESSEE!

Smyrna, Tennessee is a small town in Franklin County, Tennessee, United States. Smyrna was established in 1876 by the merger of two settlements: West Smyrna and East Smyrna. The community was named for the nearby city of Smyrna, which had been founded in 1796 by James Robertson and his brother Alexander. The population of Smyrna was 2,500 at the 2010 census. In 1861, General James H. Wilson attacked Confederate forces near the town during the Battle of Stones River. Wilson's cavalrymen killed more than 60 men and boys from Smyrna before they were able to retreat back to their homes. The town was destroyed by Union troops during World War II; however, a portion of it has since been rebuilt and is now known as East Smyrna Village.
On May 6, 1815, Smyrna was founded by Andrew Jackson and his family as a trading post on the Cumberland River. The town quickly became an important center for trade and navigation on the river. Smyrna also grew to become a major military outpost during the War of 1812. On July 12, 1819, Smyrna was burned by the British in retaliation for American raids into those waters.
