Weaver as a small business serving quality coffee to local residents in unincorporated Shelbyville Township near Memphis. Over time they gained a reputation for roasted beans that had an intense flavor with nuanced notes of chocolate or espresso. In 1996 they merged with another small business to become Counter Culture Coffee which continues to grow today with three locations throughout Western Tennessee including one in Johnson City!

Shelbyville is a small town located in Shelby County, Tennessee. The population of the town was 2,852 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1835 by John Shelby and his family. The first post office in Shelbyville was established in 1840. In 1865, the United States Congress passed a bill to create a military post near Memphis, which led to the erection of the Union Military Academy at nearby Morristown in 1868. In 1870, General William Taney moved his army headquarters from Nashville to Shelbyville after winning an election as Governor of Tennessee on an anti-slavery platform. He served two terms before resigning to become Vice President under Ulysses S. Grant. In 1875, General James Ewell built Fort Donelson on leased land adjacent to present-day Parkview Cemetery in Shelbyville for use as a Confederate fortification during the American Civil War. After Confederate forces were defeated at Fort Donelson, most of its personnel and equipment moved back into Nashville and it ceased operation until 1896 when it was reopened as a museum and tourist attraction with exhibits about war History and culture. In 1925, ownership of Fort Donelson reverted back to the United States government when General Nelson Miles sold it to Jock Sanders Brewing Company for $2 million. In 1934, educationally rich businessman John Witherspoon donated land across from Morristown College for development into what became known as "Thoroughbred Fields". In 1956, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt made her home here while vacationing in East Tennessee. Today's downtown core is one of Shelbyville's most vibrant communities with restaurants and shops lining Church Street between Fifth Avenue North and Sixth Avenue South while Main Street runs along much of its southern border.
