The United States Coast Guard was established in 1790 as the Revenue Cutter Service. The present-day Coast Guard was formed on November 4, 1903 with the merger of the Revenue Marine Service and the Lifeboat Department. The first Coast Guard station in Sevierville was founded on October 15, 1873 at Point Comfort Light Station. On May 1, 1915, Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment #1 (later renamed Headquarters and Service Squadron) were transferred from Mobile to Sevierville. On October 25, 1922, Officers’ Training School (OTS) for future Coast Guardsmen began operations at Fort Cleveland Naval Shipyard. In 1941, Commanding Officer of Patrol Boat Squadron 5 (POST), Captain Roy J. Sterrett became the first commanding officer of a Coast Guard unit when POST squadron 5 assumed responsibility for providing law enforcement patrols along Tennessee's coasts. By 1969, it had become customary for Governors General to visit all coastal stations during their visits to America's Northern Hemispheres tour; this tradition continues today with Commander-in-Chief Gary Hoke visiting each station on his annual trip across America in late summer or early fall. In 1978-79 President Jimmy Carter made an historic visit to Sevierville when he stopped at Point Comfort Light Station while en route to Memphis for a campaign rally against incumbent Governor Romer County Executive Don Yarborough. That same year also saw the establishment of Helicopter Maritime Strike Group Two (HSG 2) which provided law enforcement support for both USMC amphibious warfare exercises off Long Island City and Joint Chiefs of Staff meetings ashore in Key West). Between 1984 and 1988 USS John F Kennedy aircraft Carrier Wing Three relieved USS Enterprise after she sustained damage in a storm near Cape Lookout National Monument; this event marked the first time that an American Navy vessel had been used by the Coast Guard since World War II. However helicopters alone could not provide effective cover during large naval exercises such as these so HSG 2 was activated aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt which took over air support duties from JFK aircraft carrier wing 3; this action helped reduce casualties associated with Exercise Coral Sea which took place off Florida’s Gulf coast less than two months later on January 10th - one week before Christmas! On July 14th 1992 Commodore David Murchison became commandant of USCGC Griffin after serving as Superintendent of HMCS Vulcan (CGNL 193). His successor Commodore Lew Brown became commander CGSEVIRP(N) on January 1st 2003 having held that position concurrently since September 2002; he succeeded Commodore Murchison who retired effective June 30th 2003.. He stated "I am very pleased with my experience here" . As CGSEVIRP(N), Commander CGNL GrifFINDSIDE provides maritime security assistance including special forces capabilities through its participation in Operation Neptune Spear and conducts other counterterrorism missions within designated areas subject to Congressional approval." In 2004 Hurricane Ivan struck southeastern Alabama causing extensive damage including flooding along parts of US Gulf Coasts but no loss or injuries occurred to members or crew of any vessels within contiguous waters adjacent thereto... subsequent investigations revealed that hurricane surge caused significant damage within 12 nautical miles offshore.... Consequently CGNL GrifFINDSIDE responded successfully by deploying relief resources including personnel from UHECO helicopter detachment 813 embarked aboard HMCS Mississippian (CG 65) following receipt notification from RFS Tullahoma

The Sevierville Coast Guard gift history began in 1917 when the first Coast Guard unit was organized in Sevier County. The Unit was known as the Harbor Patrol. In 1928, the Coastal Defense Command was created and the Harbor Patrol became part of that command. In 1972, the Coast Guard District was established and the Harbor Patrol became a part of that district. In 2002, the National Defense Authorization Act changed how gifts were given to members of the Coast Guard. As a result, gifts from private individuals no longer could be given to members of the Coast Guard. Instead, Gifts must come from government organizations such as Congress or Department of Homeland Security.
Sevierville is a small town in Franklin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,599 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Franklin County. As of the 2016 American Community Survey, Sevierville had a population of 2,086 people. The earliest European settler in Sevierville was David Glasscock in 1814. Located on the Cumberland River about two miles south of present-day Sevierville and extending into what is now Knox County, Glasscock's plantation became known as "The Plantation" after his son JohnGlasscock sold it to an actuary named Nicholas Stroud in 1825 for $3,000 cash. In 1830 Josiah Henson bought "The Plantation" from JohnGlasscock and began to farmed it himself. His daughter Margaret married Andrew Jackson Davis II who also started farming there in 1834; they founded Davis & Henson Emigration Station which later became TN Valley Railroad Company; Andrew Jackson Davis III started farming there also in 1865 when he acquired land that lay east of present-day Sevierville between US 127 and KY 131 (the current town boundaries). In 1892 William Aylett moved from his farm three miles northeast of Sevierville to start amassing what would become one of the largest cotton plantations ever located within Sevier County boundaries: Aylett's Cotton Fields were located just west/northwest of present day SEVIERSON while their bordering counties included Knox (to the east), Hardin (to the northwest), Floyd (to the southeast) and Putnam (to the southwest). When during World War II orders were issued by General George Patton ordering all white men must leave cities within 72 hours or face execution if they did not leave voluntarily, many residents chose to stay behind and fight against Nazi Germany rather than go along with government order. Many homes throughout Sevier County remain standing today testament to this defiance; Examples include: Tower House which stood until 1951 when it was destroyed by fire; Goodloe House which still stands today although its foundations have been exposed since 1978 due to heavy rains); Blease House which was damaged by a tornado on May 6th 1957 but still stands today despite being struck by lightning four times that year; Hawkins Farmhouse which sustained significant damage from a bombing raid on April 20th 1945 but still remains standing today spite having its roof ripped off five times duringbombing raids over forty years later – all without any loss or damage done to structure itself! Today much has changed since President Eisenhower designated Sevier County as part of Appalachia National Forest in 1961 including increased development around town center with more shopping malls etc.; however some aspects such as traditional agriculture such as raising hogs and corn continues unchanged albeit with smaller acreage currently available especially given recent increases in air conditioning usage throughout most parts of America these days may have something to do with it?
