It has been more than fifty years since the beginning of the Red Bank Volunteer Infantry Regiment, also known as The Old Jugglers. As a regiment formed in 1917 from veterans of World War I, they were quickly called to duty in World War II. From their first deployment in the Battle of Normandy in 1944 through to the Battle of Okinawa, The Old Jugglers fought heroically and received numerous awards for their service. Today’s Red Bank Volunteers are descended from these same soldiers, who have seen action throughout history. Their uniforms and equipment remain an important part of military history here in Tennessee and across America. In honor of their service and sacrifices, we are honoring some of our most notable deployed gifts with a paper written about them by museum curator emeritus Dr. Don Battenfield. One such gift is the Patton tank/ personnel carrier that was donated to Red Bank by General George S. Patton during his visit here in 1947. This vehicle was used as transport for personnel operating various types of tanks during World War II including The Patton tank battalion which moved around England under cover of darkness to engage German forces at night whileequipped with machine guns and snipers on May 7th, 1945. The Patton tank/ Personnel Carrier is one example among many that helped make warfare more efficient for American troops on battlefields all over Europe during WWII; it continues to be an important part of Military History Museum’s collection today!

Red Bank, Tennessee is a small town located in Rutherford County, Tennessee. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville metropolitan area. Red Bank was founded in 1819 by John Red Bank and his family. The original store was on the corner of Military Highway and Broadway. In 1865, the name of the town was changed to Red Bank after General Jubal A. Early's army passed through during their campaign against Hardee County. The Post Office opened in 1892 and closed in 1955. The first post office building on Main Street date back to 1892 and is still standing today (It has been remodeled several times). In 1903, a sawmill was built next door to Depot No. 3 which continued to operate until it burned down in 1949; this mill is also still standing today (it has been remodeled several times). The First Baptist Church began services in 1906 and continues to serve today as one of the most prominent churches in Red Banks Parishioners Bible Fellowship network with over 2,000 members statewide! In 1916-17 construction began on what would later become known as "the New White House", now used as a civic center for Red Banks community events such as dances, picnics and other functions. The $437,- 000 project consisted of 8 new buildings including: an auditorium/gymnasium with seating for 500+, library/study hall with 50+ bookshelves & an outdoor amphitheater capable of seating 400+. One simply could not miss when visiting this beautiful facility! Today Red Bank continues its long history playing host to many local governmental meetings from all levels including but not limited to: school board meetings, county commissioners meetings, city council meetings - even state government officials have had opportunities to visit our lovely town! Notable visitors have included President George H W Bush (#41), Governor Bill Haslam (#1) & Mayor Karl Dean (#2)!

In 1907, Red Bank was renamed Johnson City after its first mayor, John C. Johnson. The town experienced some growth during World War II as it served as an airbase for the Allied military. After the war, Red Bank slowly lost its importance as a regional center but continued to grow in population until it reached its peak in the early 21st century. However, recent economic fluctuations have resulted in much decline to Red Bank’s overall poverty rate which has recently begun to improve with new investment opportunities available.

Sevier named the bank in honor of his friend and mentor, Alexander Hamilton. Red Bank became a thriving community with many businesses and families. In 1813, Red Bank was burned down by a group of Indians during araid.
