Murfreesboro is a city in Davidson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 36,507 at the 2010 census. It is the fourth-largest city in Tennessee and the largest city by population within Davidson County. The namesake of Murfreesboro is Isaac Murfreesborough, who served as a captain in the Union army during the American Civil War and was twice elected mayor of Nashville.
