The history of the Mount Juliet Rifle Club goes back to 1892 when a group of men met to discuss rifle shooting. They elected a president and secretary, and soon began organizing shoots. The club won its first national championship in 1895. In 1907, they became the United States armory affiliate for the international rifle federation. In 1916, they organized their first match at Bellefontaine Park. That year also saw the start of World War I and the club's participation in hostilities as members served in various units throughout Europe. After the war, they continued to organize shoot meetings and championships until 1948, when they disbanded because of financial difficulties. Today, there is still a Mount Juliet Rifle Club active within local gun clubs across America with an emphasis on historical accuracy and NRA membership privileges. In addition to their annual match held at Bellefontaine Park between October and December, these organizations sponsor other activities such as target practice or muzzleloading competitions which are open to all individuals regardless of age or experience levels.

Mount Juliet is a small town in Davidson County, Tennessee, located on the Cumberland River. The population was 1,512 at the 2010 census. Mount Juliet is one of two municipalities in Davidson County and its sister village of Decatur, Alabama which are both part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. The name "Mount Juliet" is thought to be derived from an early settler's name for this location - Mount Pleasant. The first permanent white settlement in what is now Mount Juliet was established by Capt. John Ross and his men on May 14, 1786 when they founded a trading post known as "Ross' Station." By 1800, there were about 30 people living in the area around Ross' Station. At the time of its incorporation into Davidson County as a municipality on November 15, 1892, Mount Juliet had a total population of 681 residents. At that time it was one of only two municipalities in Davidson County with a large enough land area to include all seven villages within its boundaries-the other being Decatur which became an incorporated city within Chattanooga metropolitan area on July 1, 1972). On January 1st 1959 Mt Juliet experienced rapid growth due to federal money earmarked for development near Fort Knox and other strategic locations along the Tennessee River Valley corridor during President Dwight D Eisenhower's Project To Save America's Rural Communities program (PATRAC). This investment included $2 million dollars awarded to Robertson Creek Township in neighboring Williamson County for purchasing tracts of land adjacent to mile marker 7 on U.S.-Route 127 just east of downtown Mt Juliet. Just days after this commitment was made Robertson Creek Township sold over 4 miles² worth of parcels totaling , including parts annexed by Mt Juliet from Williamson County starting at mile marker 8 through mile marker 10! In less than two years since PATRAC had created such intense demand for properties along this river corridor that Robertson Creek Township had become overwhelmed and decided not to pursue any additional land acquisitions until PATRAC ended some months later! What ensued were many more businesses opening up shop throughout downtown Mt Juliet thanks in part to expanded highway access and continued job growth spurred by new technology companies locating near Memphis Airport! Today much of downtown Mt Juliet still reflects these days Of Expansion although construction continues unabated on several streetscape projects currently slated for completion during 2020/21 including: widening US-127 & US-265; resurfacing sidewalks between 2nd Street & 3rd Street; addition of bike lanes & improvements along 2nd Street frontage; replacement or reconstructing portions of several historic homes dating back to the late 1800s
