Coffee has been a part of the Mount Juliet, Tennessee community for over sixty years. The first coffee shop in town was opened in 1912, and since then cafes have popped up all around the small city. Today, there are more than a dozen coffee shops in Mount Juliet and many of them offer unique and delicious flavors of coffee. Some of the earliest cafes were run by Mrs. Tatum and her husband, Donny. They would bring their own roasted beans from Illinois to sell at their stores. Over time, other businesses began to open up around town, including The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in 1951 and The Pike Place Café in 1957. Mount Juliet, Tennessee is located in the far northeastern corner of the state of Tennessee. The town, population and elevation are all dwarfed by neighboring Chattanooga. But despite its size and lack of amenities, Mount Juliet has a rich history that can be found nowhere else in the Volunteer State. The first inhabitants of this area were the Cherokee Indians. They built their earliest villages on higher ground near what is now downtown Mount Juliet. The Choctaws also lived here for a time before moving to their present location in east Alabama. In 1796, during the American Revolution, General George Washington led an Army through Tennessee and into Kentucky to help suppress insurrection by local militias against British rule. When he arrived at Nashville, he directed his army overland to find a crossing point on the Cumberland River so his men could march into Kentucky and join forces with General Tom Pendergast's forces besieging Lexington (then called Louisville). Colonel James Robertson was able to lead a small force around Christmas 1796 acrosscountry from Knoxville to attack the British positions at White Marsh Creek but was soundly defeated. In 1802–3, when Nashville became an important stop on stagecoach routes between Memphis and Atlanta, Mount Juliet experienced some growth due to its position as a crossroads for travelers passing through both states. A store opened in 1808 on Main Street which soon became known as "the Tiffany's of America." By 1830, there were two hotels in town: one owned by John Sowell and another run by Nicholas Ladd Sr., who had purchased it from William Wirt Jr., founder of Cincinnati newspapers The Daily Journal and World Register (). During Reconstruction (1865-1913), Mt Juliet enjoyed high levels of economic development thanks to its status as an important railway junction connecting eastern Tennessee with central Alabama and Mississippi. In 1868–9 construction began on the Chattanooga Railroad Company's new line from Chattanooga downriver to Nashville; this helped revive Main Street and spur new businesses such as stores operated by firms such as Sears & Roebuck (), Dayton Boot & Shoe (), Ford Motor Co (). After years of struggle waged by residents over plans for industrial development along Route 611—the key street leading out from downtown—Nashville finally approved them in 1912 under pressure from business interests opposing any large-scale public works projects within city limits without voter approval (). As part of World War I preparations, military supplies were unloaded at Station Road yards adjacent to what is now Peachtree Center Mall () after being trucked upriver past Station Road Bridge (); later that year Confederate troops burned down Union headquarters here while retreating southward following Battle Of Stones River . After Prohibition ended in 1933, mount jessica went through more change than most places in TN during prohibition era because people could still buy alcohol even if they couldn't get it inside

Mount Juliet, Tennessee is a town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,902 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hardin County. Mount Juliet was founded in 1819 by James Robertson and his wife Sarah as a small log settlement on high ground overlooking the confluence of the Cumberland River and Big Sandy Creek. In 1824, Robertson's brother-in-law John White established a sawmill there which became one of the largest in America. The town grew rapidly during the post–Civil War era due to its strategic location as a crossroads for travelers between Nashville and Memphis. By 1870, Mount Juliet had more than 2,000 residents and had become an important center for cotton culture with mills producing up to 20% of all local output. The townsite was platted by General Woodford Carter in 1872 as part of a larger land grant he received from President Ulysses S. Grant along with other settlements including Palestine (now Lebanon), Gadsden (later Gadsden City), Cullman (later Cullman City) and Wilburton (now West Point). When Hardin County was organized in 1796 it included much of what is now Hardin County except for present-day Mount Juliet; however, hardiness or lack thereof did not seem to have anything to do with its status as county seat until after 1800 when it began receiving federal funding specifically earmarked for that purpose through land grants given out by George Washington Carver Sr.. In 1827 Hardin Countys first courthouse was built on State Route 5 near what is now downtown Mount Juliet with Judge John Prentice presiding over sessions beginning on March 14th of each year until 1840 when circuit court moved to Nashville where it remains today. In 1850s there were few paved streets in uppermontania so people traveled by pony or stagecoach over rough dirt roads which are still visible today Some early settlers also raised chickens at their homes which continued into the late 19th century One notable event that took place near Mount Juliet occurred on July 22nd 1865 when Union Major Samuel Phillips led an attack against Confederate General Robert Elam at Battle Hill outside present day Damascus Naval Air Station; this battle is also noted for being one of two engagements where Confederate General Forrest lost his life during the war In 1881 plantation owner James Fenton donated land east of town to buildwhat would become Vanderbilt University; this donation helped solidify Vanderbilt's presence withinMount Juliet while also helping contribute significantly to economic growth In 1924 hardy man W T Bragg opened Holston Mills located just northwest corner Of Main Street And State Route 278 making him one of only two businesses ever authorized by state legislatureTo open a mill west OF Clarksville IN 1897
