The United States Coast Guard was established on May 3, 1798 as an emergency response to the War of 1812. The Coast Guard became a permanent U.S. government department on August 15, 1914 under the name Department of Commerce and Navigation. The Coast Guard was transferred from the Department of Justice to the Department of Homeland Security on October 8, 2002. On November 6, 2006, President George W. Bush signed into law the Harold Ickes Border Security and Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2006 which authorizes $10 billion for border security projects over 10 years including enhanced coast guard capabilities along our southern border. This increase in funding will also support new programs to improve maritime safety and effectiveness by funding research, development and deployment of unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), sonar systems and other surveillance technology designed to detect smugglers’ activities at sea or land

The town of Mcminnville quickly became a major hub for Coast Guard activity as they responded to numerous local emergencies. From 1917 until 1959, the Coast Guard stationed a detachment in Mcminnville which housed both enlisted and civilian personnel.Throughout their time in Mcminnville, the Coast Guard also donated many unique gifts and items that have been used by the community and remain popular today.
Mcminnville is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,564 at the 2000 census. Mcminnville is considered an agricultural community and is home to the headquarters of Monsanto. The first settler in what became Mcminnville was David McMillin in 1811. He and his family moved from Kentucky to start a farm on the banks of the Cumberland River. In 1816, McMillin married Lydia Clements and they started a family that would live in Mcminnville until their deaths in 1824 and 1828 respectively. They had six children: David (1811-1872), John (1812-1893), James (1815-1901), Martha (baptized 1792?), Fenton (1794-1876) and Andrew (1800-1881). In 1840, when Hardin County was organized, McMillin donated land to form part of the new county seat of Knoxville. As Knoxville grew larger, McMillin decided it was time for his small community to move closer to its center so he erected a store on Main Street in 1865 and named it after him – McMinnville. The store continued operating until 1916 when it burned down due to natural disasters such as floods and tornadoes. The post office which operated from 1917 until 1951 served as the town's main artery with mail delivery coming through the store before stopping at neighboring towns like Lebanon for pick up or drop off until 1895 when an all inclusive service began which included deliveries right into the homes of residents Today, much of what once constitutedMcminnVILLE has been destroyed by fire or other means however remnants can be seen dating back to 1886 including three churches – First United Methodist Church building on Fourth Street; Second Baptist Church building on Third Street; Presbyterian Chapel Building also known as “The Queen’s Chapel” located on Main Street between Broadway Avenue and Westheimer Road; these buildings were all added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 together with two other pre-war buildings on South Tenth Street which are now used as apartments Monsanto Headquarters located across from First Baptist Church

The Coast Guard is responsible for protecting both land and sea, often working in partnership with other agencies. The Coast Guard gift history can be traced back to 1915 when the United States Marine Corps was created as part of the World War I effort. The Marine Corp’s first gift was a small boat, called a PT Boat, which was given to them by King George V. In 1922, the United States Congress passed an act that established the Coast Guard Academy. This act allowed for gifts from private individuals to be given to Cadets at the Academy. It wasn’t until 1942 that an Act was passed that allowed for gifts from foreign countries to be given to Coast Guardsmen. From then on, gifts were frequently received from different parts of the world. In 1951, Congress passed an act that made it mandatory for all coast guard officers and men must wear a uniform while on duty. This law also authorized the purchase of uniforms and equipment from commercial sources. Since then, many different types of coast guard gift have been given throughout history!

Mcminnville is a small town in Knox County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,872 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Knoxville metropolitan area. The first settlers in what is now Mcminnville were Presbyterian missionaries from Scotland who came to Tennessee in 1819. They built a log cabin on the hill overlooking the present day town and named it Minnie Creek after their daughter. In 1827, they founded a school in what is now Mcminnville and also started a post office. In 1830, they erected a Baptist church which still stands today. In 1881, minnie creek was renamed Broad Fork of the Cumberland River after Wm Henson Broadus, an early settler and banker in McKnight County., Tennessee. He donated land for a public school and cemetery near his home on Broadfork Island. The town's name changed again to Mcminnville in 1907 when local merchants formed the Nashville-McMinnville Chamber of Commerce with headquarters at 515 East 6th Street (now called First National Bank). At that time there were only 100 residents living within the limits of Mcminnville while its population grew rapidly due to farming and manufacturing districts developed around it such as Maple Grove, Hickory Hill, Commerce Park and North Hickory Hills development areas
Mcminnville is located in Bath County, Tennessee. The community was founded by John and Nancy Mcmaury on a tract of land that they purchased from the Creek Indians. The town grew quickly, and by 1851 it had a population of about 125 people. In 1866, Mcminnville became the county seat of Bath County.
