Another interesting piece is a Japanese Type 99 submachine gun, which was donated by Private Tomie Shimizu from Fort Smith, Arkansas. The gun has been exhibited at the depot since 1978 and can be viewed online today. In recent years, there have also been donations of post-apocalyptic gear in addition to antique weapons and equipment. One such donation came in 2006 when 3rd Battalion 9th Regiment (Airborne) Unit 16059 received a set of rustic tools from Civilian Conservation Corps workers in nearby Athens, Alabama. Mc Minnville is a small town in Davidson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,052 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville–Davidson Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that would eventually become Mc Minnville was first settled by Scots-Irish Catholics in the 1790s and 1800s. Presbyterian missionaries began arriving in 1821 to proselytize among the local Creek Indians. By 1830, most of what is now McMinnville had been developed as a agricultural community around a large mill on the Cumberland River. In 1836, General James K. Polk made his famous visit to Tennessee and called on President Andrew Johnson to move military forces into north central Tennessee to suppress Native American resistance to white settlement and expand cotton plantations nearby. Johnson agreed to do so but only if he could get congressional approval for using federal forces against Indian insurgents instead of pure military action. On May 17, 1836, Polk sent an expedition under General John Custer into Cherokee country searching for hostile Sioux warriors but found none; instead they encountered friendly band of Cherokees led by Chief John Ross (the future Ulysses S Grant). After an intense battle that left six Americans dead and many more wounded or captured, Polk ordered his troops back south without further ado and returned home with news of Wilson’s victory at Yorktown in Virginia; this effectively ended Creek resistance to white encroachment in Tennessee. It didn’t take long for other settlers to come up with their own ideas about where they wanted to live – some chose McMinnville while others built homes near Knox College or around Fortieth Street Depot on the Cumberland River just outside town limits (now Perry Road). In 1840, three men named George Ransom founded what would be called Ransom’s Mill which soon became one of McMinnville’s most important businesses and remains so today. When King Cotton came ashore off the coast of Alabama during the Mexican-American War in1846, he needed help getting his cargo onto ships heading southward from New Orleans Harbor – something that couldn't be done using horses alone because there were no boats available big enough even for two people apiece capable of carrying all that weight! So he commissioned Captain David Davenport (of Davenport & Company) to build him a schooner/vessel - called CSS "Alabama" - big enough not only for his cargoes but also himself and his family plus any additional passengers necessary for disembarking sessions at various ports along the Gulf Coast where goods were being unloaded; this venture became known as "Davenport's Shipping". After reaching Pensacola Bay on Florida's Gulf coast on November 13th following a journey lasting over 180 days (!), "Alabama" finally arrived safely at Mobile Bay December 5th having completed an entire round trip including 23 days out o
