In 1957, Pilar Fernandez opened La Cafetería de la Calle (The Coffee House), which quickly became one of the most popular cafes in town for its unique blend of Colombian and Brazilian coffees – still enjoyed today! In 1977, Donny Brassell founded Brassell's Coffee & Tea - what would later become called Donny Brassell's Pizza Place - which continues to serve up some amazing pizza dishes today! In 1990, Stanislaus Cafe opened on Commercial Street - becoming one of the earliest Starbucks locations outside of Seattle! The late 1990s also saw an increase in coffee-related businesses throughout downtown Jackson – including Blue Bottle Coffee Co., Joe's New York Bagels & Donny Brassell's Pizza Place!
