Mr. Hamer started the business to provide their local citizens with fresh, roasted coffee beans and other grocery items from his family's farmstead.The original store was located on the corner of Main and Grove Streets. In 1951, Harry Hamer passed away, but his wife continued to operate the business until her death in 1976. During this time, Mrs. Hamer left behind a legacy of smallbatch coffee that continues to be enjoyed today by residents of Greeneville and surrounding areas! In 1984, John Herrington opened up his own convenience store across from the old Mrs. Hamer store on Grove Street.. Since then, John's Coffee has become one of the most well-known smallbatch coffee businesses in Greeneville!
