Greeneville is a small town in Davidson County, Tennessee. The population was 2,451 at the 2010 census. It is the only municipality in Davidson County. The name "Greeneville" is derived from the Scottish word "Gaelic," meaning "green wood." The first settler in Greeneville was James Green, who arrived in 1807 and built a house on what is now Elm Street. In 1811, Nicholas Gentry purchased land that included present-day Greeneville from James Green. He named it Gentryville after himself and his family. The following Aldermen re-elected: Alderman Broughton (northwest corner), Alderman Kincaid (east side), Alderman Doherty (southwest corner) & Alderman Holland (middle section). This shows that not all residents within city limits could vote on ordinances affecting citizens living within other neighborhoods or outside city limits – something which would have greatly impacted future legislation being considered by these same City Council members! On November 4th 1926 there was another murder committed while voting – this time by Nathan Bedford who walked into City Hall with a knife after getting away with Murder 1st Class Felony gun possession charges against him just days prior!
