The Greeneville Army National Guard, also known as the Tennessee Army National Guard, is an active duty military branch of the United States Armed Forces. It was formed on December 15, 1792 by Continental Congress Resolution No. 10784 and organized into a regiment on February 14, 1793. The unit served in various campaigns during the American Revolution against Great Britain and its colonies. The 1st Regiment was among those who fought at Monmouth Heights in July 1777 and Yorktown in October 1781. The regiment also participated in the Battle of Princeton and Battle of Saratoga. The regiment fought at Palo Alto (1847), Vicksburg (1863), Chattanooga (1865), Perryville (1870) and Gettysburg (1914).
