Goodlettsville is an unincorporated community in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 527 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Nashville–Davidson Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Goodlettsville Gun Club was chartered on September 15, 1892 by Dr. George Goodletts and James Blythe as a means to promote responsible gun ownership in the town. The club met monthly until 1903 when it disbanded because of lack of membership. In 1906, the Goodlettsville Rifle and Pistol Club was organized and met weekly until 1907 when it disbanded because too many members were military veterans. In 1923, the Bellefontaine Rifle and Pistol Club was organized with a meeting held every third Saturday from July 1-September 30th at Bellefontaine Baptist Church in Bellefontaine Township outside of Goodlettville. This club continued meeting until 1949 when it disbanded due to lack of membership once again.

Goodlettsville is a small town in the Knox County, Tennessee, U.S. state of Tennessee. The population was 1,527 at the 2010 census.[1] It is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. Goodlettsville was founded by James Goodlett in 1814 and grew up around his cotton plantation and store. The town became an important crossroad for travelers on the Cumberland Trail and later served as a center for development in eastern Knox County. In 1925, Goodlett's heirs sold their holdings in the town to establish Goodlettsville State University[2] which continues to operate today as one of college education's most prestigious institutions. Goodlettsville is located at 38°25′23″N 86°10′17″W (38.860922,-86.183448).[3] The first mention of Goodlettsville occurs in 1814 when James Goodlett established a cotton plantation there with his son Jacob.[4][5] By 1800, good land had been developed around what is now Goodlettsville due to its proximity to larger settlements such as Chattanooga and Uniontown[6][7]. After years of growth, James' cotton plantation failed due to bad management and investments[8]: however, it helped spur further development along nearby roads that eventually led to the founding of what is now GoodLETTSVILLE by James GOODLETT fifty-six years later! For many citizens who lived here during this time period memories will still be implanted with fondness for this growing community; after all development here took place rapidly & large areas were soon occupied! In fact several former residents are still living here today (& some continue to play an active role within our community), testifying how much things have changed since they left over two hundred years ago! Many businesses remain open & thriving even into these days which showcases just how vibrant & alive our little village has become!
