Goodlettsville is a town in Davidson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,819 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Memphis metropolitan area. The Goodlettsville post office has been in operation since 1892. The first Coast Guard station in Goodlettsville was established on August 12, 1892 as Station No. 2 on the southern side of the river near present-day mile marker 10A. At that time, it served as a warning system for shipping and navigation along the Tennessee River and its tributaries. In 1930, the station moved to its current site on Mount Zion Road just east of downtown Goodlettsville. It continued to serve as a Coast Guard station untilactivated on December 15, 1966 due to budget cuts within the Department of Defense. After being reactivated by Naval Air Station Mayport (now NAS Jacksonville) in Jacksonville Beach Florida as an auxiliary coast guard unit based out of that facility until February 1974 it returned to Goodlettville under then commandant Rear Admiral Royce Ladds USN who operated it from April1974-December 1976 during which time there were two major incidents when commercial vessels ran aground or grounded while attempting to enter or exit from Long Beach Harbor without proper notice being given: one on July 6th 1975 and another on October 3rd 1976 both resulting in loss of life for both men concerned Station 2 recommissioned on January 13th 1977 with Captain John A Griffin commanding after four years absence due to retirement Captain Griffin had also been Commanding Officer (CO) USS "Pete" Smithson (LPD-21) when she collided with SS "Vernon W Berry" off Cape Hatteras Virginia killing all 7 crew members aboard . On November 9th 1978 CO USS "John C Bowen" collided with SS "Heather L Kapp" off Grand Turk Island Turks & Caicos Islands causing serious damage but no lives were lost On December 8th 1978 CO USS "Gordon J Weitzel" collided with SS "Catherine Ann Shewchuk" off North Carolina damaging her badly but no lives were lost These accidents made good by Captains Griffen and Weitzel each taking home $10,000 each for their respective crashes

Goodlettsville is a small town in Johnson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,383 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. Goodlettsville is one of two towns in Johnson County that are both located on the Cumberland River; the other is nearby Murfreesboro. The community was founded by Colonel John Goodlett in 1811 as a trading post on the Cumberland River. In 1814, Goodlett and his family moved to what is now Goodlettsville from Rogersville, Kentucky. The first house in Goodlettsville was built by Capt. James Auld in 1818. Goodlett's store became one of the most important businesses in town during its early years. After he died in 1825, his wife continued to run the store until her death in 1830). In 1857, John Sollers opened a grocery store here which soon became known as "The Sollers Store". In 1881, Wallace Hoyle opened a general store and post office called "Hoyle's General Store" which remains open today as an antique shop and gift store. From 1886 to 1889 Charles Wray operated a sawmill here which produced lumber for local homes and businesses until it closed down due to overcapacity around 1910s-1920s. In 1923, Mrs Anna Henderson donated land for use as an all-purpose park that includes a playground and tennis courts among other amenitiesToday Goodlettsville has several dozen stores including several large chain stores such as Sears Roebuck & Co., JCPenney & Co., Kroger Co., Macy's Incorporated (the original Macy's location), Walmart Supercenter (), Costco Wholesale Club (). There are also several small shops dotting the downtown area including art galleries (several located inside city hall), jewelers (including several Tiffany &Co.'s locations), health food stores (eagle foods), restaurant complexes (such as Hardee’s restaurants) and numerous residences dating back many decades including many with characteristically Tennesseeans architectural features such as brick vaults or brick stacks above deep front porch steps typical of Nashville architecture during this time period (). The public library building has been home to various cultural events such as poetry readings/classes/workshops throughout history while also hosting art exhibits/festivals throughout year
The Coast Guard gift history can trace back to at least 1912 when a group of enlisted men from New York City's 8th Regiment donated 9 firearms and pistols to the Coast Guard. This donation was in honor of Lieutenant Commander Augustus W. Cook, who had been Killed in Action in World War I. In 1923, the Coast Guard adopted a new uniform with an olive drab color and blue stripes running down the sides which became known as "The Blue Ensign." The First National Defense Reserve Association (FNORA) was founded in 1941 and soon began providing gifts to the Coast Guard. In 1951, FNORA contributed $5,000 towards the purchase of 36 Haviland MH-60P Sea Hawk Helicopters for the Coast Guard. These helicopters would be used for law enforcement purposes, search and rescue missions, coastal security patrols, and disaster relief operations. The first helicopter squadron was formed in 1961 with the arrival of MH-60R Black Hawks. Since then, the Coast Guard has purchased over 150 helicopters! Today, there are more than 4500 members of the Coast Guard stationed around the world including duty stations located on every inhabited continent except Antarctica! Additionally, coast guard aviation provides critical support to all facets of our mission including roles such as Search and Rescue (SAR), Maritime Enforcement (MEMS/MARPOL), humanitarian assistance (HAV), counterterrorism patrol duties (CTT), maritime traffic control duties (MATCDD), hazardous materials response activities(HMA), fisheries patrol tasks(FPS), and many more!

Goodlettsville has had many businesses throughout its history including a coal mine that functioned from 1865-1928; two cotton ginneries that produced wagons for local farmers from 1886-1910; three shoe stores which opened from 1909-1911; a grocery store which opened from 1918-1920; and two hotels which were built between 1922-1924 and remain active today as Holiday Inn Express and Quality Suites properties respectively
