The first store located at 324 Second Street was opened by Haas in conjunction with the city of Franklin. Haas's business grew quickly and within a few years he had several stores throughout the town. He soon became well known for his quality beans and enjoyed high popularity among locals and tourists alike. His enterprise allowed him to create a strong customer base that helped him continue shipping his beans all over the United States for many years. In 1916, Haas donated land adjacent to his home which would become the nucleus of what is now called Maga Coffee Company Incorporated (Maga Co.). The company was established on this land as an educational organization providing education about both espresso coffee and maga coffee products. Maga coffee began to be grown in Franklin, Tennessee in the early 1800s. The first coffee beans were roasted and ground at a small shop on Broadway near the present-day UT School of Pharmacy. In 1901, the Franklin Coffee Company was founded by local businessmen J.H. Good and W.A. Warrick and quickly became one of the most successful small businesses in town. The company continued to grow and become one of the leading roasters in the area until it ceased operations in 1978.
Franklin is a small town in Tennessee, located in the extreme south-central region of the United States. It is bordered by Chickasha County to the north and east, Coffee County to the south, and Hardin County to the west. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. Franklin has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen climate classification Cfa), abbreviated "Csb" on maps. The first white person to live in what is now Franklin was John Hargrave, who arrived there in 1796. The town was named for Benjamin Franklin, who had visited it while on his way from Philadelphia to Nashville. In 1802, James Polk became President of the United States and decided that Knoxville should be made the capital of Tennessee instead of Nashville. He offered this decision to Mayor John Trimble and others in Franklin before leaving for Knoxville on May 10th of that year. As part of his efforts as President, Polk issued orders allowing freedmen living in Tennessee to vote beginning November 6th of that year; this event would later become known as "The Voting Day Massacre." On December 12th 1802, General Andrew Jackson arrived at Franklin with 1 brigade and 4 cannons from Memphis during his campaign for Ulysses S. Grant's Democratic Party nomination for President against Zachary Taylor; he won handily over Taylor but chose not to come into town for fear that violence might erupt if he did so. Aftermath: A mob attacked Jackson's forces early Saturday morning December 14th near Main Street where they were taking shelter under some houses after being driven off by militia firing back

In 1917, Franklin won recognition as a Distinguished City by the United States government. Today, it is home to many interesting museums and businesses that contribute to its unique character.
