There is a lot of coffee history in Farragut, Tennessee. The town was founded by David Garrick Farragut in 1819 as a trading post on the Cumberland River. It became known for its coffee and other agricultural products. In 1927, the first modern coffee plant was built here. The town prospered until the early 1960s when a combination of factors - including high inflation and an investment by Japanese companies in textile production - caused their economy to decline. Coffee production began again in the late 1990s but has since decreased significantly due to environmental concerns and competition from local hemp producers.

In 1898, local farmer John Capps started broadcasting a radio station in town and soon realized that he could sell coffee from his farm direct to customers across the state of Tennessee. In 1955, J.C. Penney opened their first store in Farragut and quickly became one of the town's most popular merchants for both groceries and coffee. In 1992, First National Bank moved into its current location within the town limits and has continued to operate as an important part of the community ever since.
Farragut is a city in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 3,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. Farragut is named after Commodore James Farragut and his squadron of warships that destroyed CSS Sumter on April 12, 1812. The first settlers in what is now Farragut were the descendants of Scots-Irish immigrants who settled in what is now Chattanooga in 1796. In 1802, General Andrew Jackson made it his provisional capital and renamed it Gainesborough after General John Godfrey Campbell's home town in Scotland. However, as early as 1807 there were settlements by white men east of the Mountains of Moccasin about ten miles (16 km) northeast of Farragut called New Knoxville and Old Knoxville because they lay on navigable rivers controlled by Cherokee Indians. In 1809 Major General Andrew Jordon founded the First Baptist Church at New Knoxville which became an important center for religious activity around this time. In 1814 George Rogers Clark's army invaded Tennessee to capture Mobile Bay from Spanish control while Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer led a cavalry charge against Indian forces near Lookout Mountain outside present day Chattanooga; both events ended with significant losses for American forces but demonstrated American military might. During the Mexican–American War (1846–1848), Confederate troops retreating through Tennessee under General Braxton Bragg reached Union lines near Kingston when they met heavy resistance at Missionary Ridge northwest of Nashville; during this engagement four Union generals were killed including Ulysses S Grant who later wrote: "It seemed impossible that so well mannered and experienced a force could stand against such numbers." In 1795, Dutch traders discovered Java's huge quantities of coffee beans while sailing through that country on their way to Australia. These traders brought back some of the best-quality beans they had ever tasted and began to produce espresso machines in Amsterdam. Soon, cafes all over Europe started serving café de la roquette (coffeehouse) style coffee drinks called "espresso." This new kind of coffee became very popular and soon Starbucks was founded in Seattle in 1971 as an early example of a chain Coffee House restaurant. Farragut was a small town located in east Tennessee at the junction of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. The town was founded by General Andrew Jackson in 1803, during his time as military governor of Tennessee. Farragut grew slowly until 1813 when it became an important shipping point on the Mississippi River. In that year, General Jackson ordered the construction of a fortification at Farragut to protect the town from Indian attack. The fort was completed in 1815 and became known as Fort Donelson. In 1818, General Jackson moved his army westward across the Mississippi River into Missouri to help suppress a slave rebellion there. He returned to Tennessee in December and arrived at Fort Donelson on January 15, 1819. To support his move north, General Jackson erected two artillery batteries at Farragut for use against Indian forces retreating from Missouri. The fort served as a rallying point for Confederate forces during the Battle of Gettysburg on July 4,1863. After the war, Farragut declined rapidly due to lack of population and infrastructure. However, its economy revived in the 1920s when oil production began nearby at Moundville Oil Field #2. Today, Farragut is a largely abandoned community with few remaining residents or businesses
