The Elizabethton National Guard was organized on July 1, 1861, in response to the Confederate States of America seceding from the United States. TheElizabethton National Guard was originally composed of men from Campbell County and parts of Knoxville County. The first unit to be stationed in Elizabethton was Company F, 2nd Kentucky Infantry Regiment. On November 16, 1861, Captain John M. Beatty Jr., commanding Company F of the Elizabethton National Guard lost his life at the Battle of Fort Donelson during the Civil War. In 1865, Companies E and G were transferred from Knoxville County to Elizabethton under command of Lieutenant Colonel George Sibley. These two companies were reassigned to duty with General Order No. 12 on December 5th 1865 which called for all forces within Tennessee and Alabama to consolidated into a single regiment commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Sibley. When General Order No. 25 was issued on January 7th 1866 this order did not apply to Elizabethton National Guards since it pertained only to Regular Army soldiers commands in Tennessee and Alabama not military reservists or national guardsmen who had served with distinction in the Union army during the war such as Captain John M Beatty Jr., Lieutenants George Sibley and James Hoggarty among others Shortly after General Order No. 25 became effective starting February 16th 1866 Company C3 (4th Battalion) Elizabethton NGA arrived at Glasgow for spring training becoming one of six battalions assigned specifically to guard prisoners-of-war being held by Confederate authorities including 500 sickly or insane Americans brought over under authority of President Lincoln following their surrender at Appomattox Court House . By May 26th 1866 all units in Tennessee had been mustered into service as part of Continental Army under MajorGeneral Ulysses S Grant . Withdrawal orders arrived on May 30st1866 terminating all remaining enlistments with due process except those enrolled prior may 1st1867 who would have their enlistment expire no matter what happened until they received new orders After muster out there followed a period where most members lived apart either far away from home or fighting in different theaters altogether while many enlisted brothers went off into retirement never expecting came back home again much less take up arms AGAIN against our common foe

Elizabethton is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 2,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chattanooga, TN-MS-AL Metropolitan Statistical Area. Elizabethton is located on the eastern edge of Hardin County and east of the state line into Alabama. The first white person to live in what would become Elizabethton was John Fenton in 1819. He built a cabin on Stones River which he named "Fenton's Fort". A post office called Fentonville was established in 1827, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1892. In1838, James Caldwell settled near present day Elizabethton and began trading with Indian tribes for goods they needed for their raids against other tribes living west of the Appalachian Mountains. In 1840, he founded what would become known as Caldwell Coal Company Limited which had operations until 1886 when it merged with another coal company to form Consolidated Coal Mines Incorporated (CCCMI). The community name "Elizabethton" originated from a Cherokee word meaning "place where everything grows." Mrs. Rhea Capps who raised her family here told an oral history story that one day while harvesting potatoes she happened to look out her porch window and saw someone walking across the road towards her home - it was General Andrew Jackson! Her husband reported this story back to Jackson who laughed so hard that he fell off his horse! Afterward Mrs. Capps introduced him to her daughter who said that she sometimes went outside without pants becauseGeneral Jackson always gave her enough clothes to wear! This story served as inspiration for author Alice Sebold's novel "The Da Vinci Code". This description fits very well with how things used to be here before all these people moved away or died...or something like that? I don't know...I guess I just feel really nostalgic about it now cause there ain't no trace left of nothing nowheresabouts anywheresabouts but I'm still kinda sad about it cause I miss them memories damnit!
The National Guard has a rich history that can be traced back to the Revolutionary War. The Guards were first organized as militias in 1775, and served in various roles during the war. After the war, many of these militias were turned into national guard units. In 1802, the National Guard was reorganized into a permanent force under the control of the federal government. From its inception until World War II, the National Guard played an important role in American society. During World War I, there were over 1 million active duty soldiers in the National Guard. Of these soldiers, 4 percent served in combat zones and 10 percent fought as support troops. Nearly 85 percent of all military personnel who fought during World War I belonged to either the Regular Army or Marine Corps Reserve battalions. The National Guard also played a critical role in supporting key Victory totals such as 1917’s Allied victory at Verdun and 1918’s Armistice win at Ypres. After World War I, members of both regular armies and national guard units began to return home with their memories of fighting overseas fresh in their minds. This new generation of soldiers saw service in various campaigns throughout America’s involvement in World War II including Korea (191950-1953), Vietnam (1969-1975), and Desert Storm (1990). Today, there are over 350 thousand active duty members of the National Guard serving across America from state agencies to county sheriff’s departments.

Elizabethton was founded in 1796 by General James Wilkinson and his wife, Deborah. The town was named for Elizabeth, the first female of British descent to serve as a U.S. senator from Tennessee. In 1819, the town became the capital of Tennessee after being chosen by the state legislature over Knoxville. The city grew rapidly during its early years, with construction of a new courthouse and business districts taking place throughout the 1840s and 1850s. However, during the Civil War (1861-1865), Elizabethton suffered significant damage as Union forces attacked the town. Afterward, the city slowly recovered and experienced an increase in population over ensuing decades until it reached its current level of development in 1970. As an agricultural center during most of its history, Elizabethton played an important role in both localpolitics and national government. Today, Elizabethton is home to a number of cultural attractions includingthe University of Tennessean School of Business;theTennessee State Fairgrounds;andtheTennessee Arts Center. Additionally, Elizabethton offers a varietyof recreational opportunities such as hiking and fishing along the Appalachian Mountains;walking or biking through downtown;attractions at six different theme parks encompassing more than 100 acres;anda wide array of dining options including several small restaurants and four major chain restaurants
In 1792, the town of Elizabethton was founded by a group of English settlers. The town became an important center for trade and commerce, and its citizens developed a strong tradition of education. In 1802, the town was renamed to honor General Andrew Johnson, who had played a significant role in the American Revolution. In 1865, Elizabethton was hit by a devastating tornado that destroyed much of the town.
