East Ridge is a small, unincorporated community located in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Appalachian Mountains and features a post office and a few businesses. The first permanent settler in East Ridge was John Sowell, who arrived in 1819. He built a cabin on the hill above present-day East Ridge Elementary School. A post office was established in 1836, and remained in operation until 1911. The community name may be derived from the ridge running through it, which served as its boundary. In 1865 Union General Ulysses S. Grant visited East Ridge while scouting for an ambush site for his army's march into Chattanooga to attack Confederate forces there during the Overland Campaign of 1862. Afterward, he named one of his units "East Ridge" after that location. In 1892 local resident Keye Gardner opened a general store here which continued until 1951 when it closed due to competition from more haphazard stores set up by settlers nearby over time. A primary industry early in East Ridge's history was agriculture; however, this has since declined due to changes in climate and other factors such as increased travel within the area by residents and tourists alike; now only light manufacturing takes place hereabouts as opposed to traditional downtown Knoxville operations

In 1912, Italian coffee magnate Filippo Taddei leased the Rome-based Tedeschi Coffee Company from Teschetti’s grandson Luigi. From then until World War II, Tedeschi produced some of the most popular Italian espresso drinks such as cappuccino and corteccino. In 1944, with the war raging and production falling short due to wartime rationing, Luigi Todeschini purchased ownership of Tideschi Coffee Company from his father-in-law Pio Lalli. In 1951, Luigi passed away and his sontaking over management took on the name “Tedeschi Srl”. From 1951 through 1978 (the years during which it was an independent company),Teschelissr ltd produced its own espresso drinks under various brand names including “Rome Cappuccino” (1951–1978), “Corteccini” (1952–1978), “Pistachio Cortesi” (1958–1978) and finally “Fiori del Cortesiano” (1979). From 1978 onward, all products were marketed as part of Nestle Ltd.'s "Italian Coffee" line. In 1984 Teschelissr became part of Keurig Incorporated after it merged with PepsiCo International Incorporated.
