The first store had two locations, one on the corner of Main and Maple Streets and the other at 124th Street and Broadway Avenue. In 1912, a new coffee house opened on Elm Street called The Coffee House. It was later renamed The Coffee House & Bakery. In 1916, the grocery store moved to its current location on Cherokee Road close to downtown Dickson. In 1922, the first post office in Dickson was established at 259 North Union Street. In 1925, JH's Cafe became a movie theater with a cafe serving snacks as well as coffee and pastries until it closed in 1951-52 due to financial problems). In 1954, Mrs. John Hodge sold her interest in JH's Cafe to her son-in-law Milton Ruppert who operated it until his death in 1978. From 1978 through 1984, Mr. Ruppert's wife Nancie ran the business while he was away working for various companies including Coca Cola Enterprises Incorporated (until their sale to PepsiCo in 1984). After Nancie's death in 2000, Mr .Ruppert's son Michael took over operations of the business until his retirement from it in 2006 After Michael Ruppert's retirement from running the business alloted 3 years for plans were made to create a small batch coffee program under contract with Starbucks Corporation This plan fell thru because Michael Ruppert wanted more control over how many cups of coffee each person could purchase which would have undercut their competition)
