The history of roasted coffee in Dickson, Tennessee began with African Americans working the land in the early 1800s. Coffee beans were picked and roasted by Native Americans, who would then add their own flavor and preference to the coffee. In 1892, a German immigrant named Wilhelm Kapp purchased a small plantation near Dickson. Kapp introduced coffee to the area and began roasting his beans on his farm. The first Dutchman in town, Jochem Heijnen, also bought some of Kapp's beans and started roasting them himself. By 1925, all three businesses had closed down due to competition from larger companies. But persistence led to success for those who persisted: In 1954, Henry George opened George's Coffee Shop in downtown Dickson and continued serving up fresh-roasted coffee until he sold it in 1979. Over time, other businesses have opened up around town like The Gilded Cage Café & Bakery (now known as Beersheba) which served roast-your-own coffee until 1982; The Roasterie (now known as Mama's Cafe); Joe's Old Time Coffee House; Plus One Giftshop; Johnny Rockets Pizza Place; and Brownies 'N' More Cafeteria all selling their own unique blends of coffee each day. Today there are over 20 cafes spread throughout the downtown district that serve up delicious cups of java every day!

Dickson, Tennessee is a small town located in rural westernTennessee. The population was 1,337 at the 2010 census. Dickson is the most populous city in Wilson County and the county seat of Wilson County. The name "Dickson" comes from Andrew Dickson, a settler in 1822 who named the river that flows through the town after him. The first white settlers in this area were three families who established a cabin on Hartsville Creek in 1825. By 1830, there were six families living here and seven businesses had been started by 1830. In 1837, James Auld exchanged land with David Tipton to form the present-day Wilson County. By 1840, there were fourteen farms and one store in Wilson County with a population of sixty-six people. In 1861, Confederate General Robert Ewell took up arms against Union General George McClellan while he was advancing toward Chattanooga along the Nashville & Chattanooga Railroad. When McClellan's army reached Mobile Bay on September 17th (the Battle of Chickamauga), Ewell made his way northward to join him Thereafter Union forces advanced into Cherokee Territory but found no resistance at home so they withdrew back towards Chattanooga without achieving their objective of invading southern Alabama and destroying supplies for Johnston's army fighting in Virginia Beach Swamp campaign In 1865, as part of Reconstruction that followed the American Civil War, Dickson became an all-black village under military command until it reverted to white control following emancipation in 1865 After Reconstruction ended in 1877, blacksmiths began working for companies such as John Witherspoon & Sons which produced equipment for local farmers When word spread about oil reserves being discovered near Roanoke Island off the Tennessee coast., businessmen announced plans to build a refinery here which would produce gasoline and other products But due to lack of money and competition from other industries within Tennessee (& outside of TN), only one refinery was built before it closed its doors permanently due to environmental issues around 1956 Today much of what once stood downtown has been replaced by housing developments or abandoned properties . But some remnants such as old bread ovens still stand today evidence that life continued even during difficult times
