In 1949, the Tennessee Air National Guard deployed a gift to Air Force Base Dickson. The gift was a McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II jet fighter aircraft. The RAF sent two jets as part of an exchange program in the early 1950s.
Dickson, Tennessee is a small town located in the eastern half of the state of Tennessee. The population was 1,836 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Knoxville metropolitan area. In 1827, John Dickson erected a log cabin on what is now known as Old Hickory Lake northeast of town. In 1839, he married Anna Maynard and their children were born here: infant John B., James A., and Rebecca Ethel (1846-1937). They also raised cattle and hogs on their farm until 1865 when they moved to nearby Uniontown to join other pioneers who had founded that community. There they built a three-story frame house which still stands today as one of the most important buildings in town. The family returned to Dickson in 1870 and continued farming there until 1901 when they sold their land to George Wetherbee for $15,000. At this time, Dickson became an industrial center with numerous businesses including cotton ginners, sawmills, auto parts stores and breweries. In 1930 it was renamed for Drayton Cramer who served as mayor from 1926-29 and 1932-35; during his tenure many new municipal buildings were erected such as the Town Hall (1930), High School (1934) and Cemetery (1936). After his death in 1935, city services were vested within newly created Knox County government which included responsibility for education whilestill remaining a part of Dickson Municipal Government; however by 1963 all functions had been transferred back to Knox County government due to budget cuts within that agency Helden Pharmaceuticals Corporation established a research lab here from 1967 until its closure in 1998; later that year it merged with EuropeanPharmaceuticals AG creating largest biotechnology company ever based outside Europe

Dickson, Tennessee is a town located in Knox County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Knoxville metropolitan area. The early history of Dickson can be traced back to 1822 when it was organized as an unincorporated community named Hickory Point on the banks of the river Cumberland. In 1827, Dickson became a county seat and remained so until 1871. As parts ofKnox County until December 3rd, 1907 when it became part of Sevier County pursuant to the Jones-Boling Act (13 Stat 489). The present day town dates back to 1881 when lands were donated by General John Custer and his family to settle some new settlers in what is now Dickson. The townsite of Dickson was first surveyed in April 1881 by surveyor Wm Hines and named forGeneral John Custer who donated land for the settlement. When General Custer died in November 1885 he bequeathed his entire estate including 6200 acres (2 km²) in northwest Knox County to settle new settlers thereabouts and also provided for their education and general welfare through grants given unto them hereinbefore mentioned. So began what would become one of America’s most successful westward migration stories – that of pioneer farmers pushing westward into Cherokee Country seeking better soil and more fertile fields than they could find east of the mountains bordering Kentucky/Tennessee on three sides! Today’s residents are descendants both directly from those original pioneers – such as Fayettevillenative Bob Sutherland – as well as second generation immigrants who have come here since then: Russians, Germans, Poles etc., making up only about 10% or so today but growing steadily every day! In March 1886 Daniel Boone arrived with James Aikens and other men from Nashville looking for a place to build a house on this tract that had been offered them by General John Custer just south ofpresent Day Dickson limits on Cumberland River opposite modern Hardin City Limits which at that time were part of Lauderdale County . builder Jno Richardson laid out blocks formeudant European architecture using rough logs hewn fromthe creek bottom where later homes still stand today several miles upstream from present day dickerson limits . Soon afterRichardson completed construction two other families joined him; namely James Suggs & brother David Suggs started building log cabins beside Richardson’s first grant blockhouse known as “Saddleback Cabin” built about 1888 near current day intersectionof US 231 & TN 376 just past milepost 204 By 1928 over 300 people lived there mostly subsistence farmers raising chickens eggs rabbits hogs etc originally all agricultural production being conducted off small plots leased/agricultural credit stock rented / reselling produce local hardware store groceries post office etc but within few years big box stores opened everywhere like Sears Roebuck & CoOpened 1923 along current US 231 edge near old post office location 100 years ago
