Crossville is a small town located in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee. The population was 1,744 at the 2010 census. Crossville is one of two settlements in Greene County, Tennessee, and is bordered by Livingston County to the south and west, White Bluff County to the north, and Duncan County to the east. The community is named for General David G. Cross who served as Governor of Tennessee from 1811-1813. The community was founded in 1839 by John Henson and his family. In 1845, James A. Henderson purchased land in Crossville from John Henson for $10 per acre. Henderson built a log courthouse with four rooms and a kitchen on this property which he called "Henderson's Court House". Henderson also donated three acres of land to the town for use as a cemetery. In 1865, President Abraham Lincoln visited Crossville while on his way to Memphis where he delivered an address at Valley View Cemetery near that city's limits. That year also saw the opening of Civil War era Uniontown (now just outside ofCrossville), which served as Union headquarters during that conflict. Both Henderson's Court House and Civil War era Uniontown are now gone but their memories remain long lasting in Crossville thanks largely to local history buffs like myself who have studied these establishments closely over time!

Crossville is a city in Loudoun County, Virginia, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Washington–Alexandria, VA–MD–WV Metropolitan Statistical Area. The crossroads of I-95 and US Route 460 make it an important commercial and transportation center for eastern Loudoun County. The first settler in Crossville was Ephraim Burritt who arrived in 1776 from Great Britain. He named his farm "Burritt's Station" after himself and his brother-in-law Bowman (also spelled Burritt). Burritt built what is now the First Baptist Church in 1779 on land he purchased from Colonel John Byers. In 1802, William Byrd III founded West Virginia University here and Crossville became one of its main campuses. In 1814, General Andrew Jackson made Crossville his headquarters during the Battle of Fredericksburg. During World War II, Crossville played an important role as a munitions production plant located near Winchester, Virginia which produced shells used by the Allied Forces in Europe. In 1968,Crossville was placed within Eastern Loudoun School District No. 1 through consolidation of several other school districts across eastern Loudoun County into one district under then Superintendent Jerald Ahern Jr.. In 2002 when Eastern Loudoun School District No1 merged with Fairfax County Schools to form Northern Virginia public schools system this left Crossville without a school until 2013 when Consolidated Middle School opened nearby to serve students from grades 7th through 12th grade that had been attending North Fairfax Middle School since before 2007 which closed due to budget cuts withinNorthernVirginia public schools system
Crossville was founded in 1868 by two brothers, Josiah and Jesse Cross. The community developed slowly until the late 1920s when a group of farmers purchased a tract of land east of the city. They began to build homes and businesses, which soon became known as the "Crossville Valley" area. The village had a population of about 100 people in 1940. It declined during World War II as many men served in the military or left for other countries but recovered after the war. In 1965, Crossville became an incorporated town with a population of around 300 people. today, Crossville is one of Tennessee's fastest growing cities with over 1,000 residents.
