The store closed in the 1920s but was reopened in 1928 as the First Coffee House by Harry and Elsie Weisbrod. The Weisbrods continued to operate the business until it closed again in 1957.
Crossville is a small town in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Memphis metropolitan area. The community was organized on November 5, 1871 when two men named John and James Cross bought a farm for $4 per acre from David Creech. The first post office in Crossville was established on February 22, 1872. The name originated with a family name found in England that included one cross (or "champion") symbolizing victory over enemies or obstacles. There were four post offices serving Crossville until it discontinued operations on October 15, 1966; all except one were renamed to honor local citizens who had died in service during World War II or the Korean War: James L. Cross (February 22, 1872-October 15, 1966), Earl Jossman (May 16, 1912-January 17, 1978), and Clifford W. Hargrave (November 10, 1924-July 8, 2000). The first school in Crossville was built in 1873 by Rev. Crossville is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hardin County. The town started as a log cabin community on the north side of the Cumberland River in what is now Crossville Township. A post office was established there on July 3, 1806, and remained in operation until it was discontinued by the United States Postal Service on July 12, 1907. The first settler in what is now Crossville Township was John Clements (1775-1856). He built his cabin on a bluff above the river and named it "Crossville." In 1819, James Denny built a log cabin near present-day Crossville and named it "Denny's Cabin." In 1830, Isaac Taylor moved to this area from Mt Juliet, Tennessee and erected his plantation house here. This became one of most important cotton plantations in Middle Tennessee due to its location along the riverine plain where cotton could be grown free from pests and diseases. In 1829–30 Abraham Lincoln visited this area while he was campaigning for election to president of the United States; he stopped at Denny's Cabin on his way to Nashville. After Ulysses S. Grant defeated Andrew Johnson in November 1872 during an American Civil War effort at Chattanooga National Military Park nearpresent-day Crossville, crossvillenoational park opened just south of Denny's Cabin with land donated by Grant for that purpose (). Nearby present-day Liberty Bowl Stadium also served as an encampment for Union forces during 1863's battle against Confederate General Robert E Lee (). On December 3, 1861, Crossville was the site of one of the most significant moments in Tennessee history. Union General James H. Wilson's army invaded and captured nearby Nashville after a three-week siege. The townspeople were terrified as they saw their community being taken away and never seen again. The town was rebuilt quickly and grew rapidly during the Reconstruction Era. The population reached over 10,000 by 1875, making Crossville one of the largest cities in Tennessee at that time. It experienced a great deal of prosperity during its heyday, but eventually declined following World War I and other economic factors. Today, Crossville is a small town with only a few hundred residents living within its boundaries.
