The Cookeville Army National Guard unit was activated on December 1, 1917. It was the first all-volunteer military forces in Tennessee. The unit's motto is "Semper Fidelis" which means "AlwaysFaithful." The Cookeville Army National Guard Unit has served our state and country since World War I. On July 12, 1921, the Cookeville detachment of the 7th Infantry Regiment concurrently organized with the United States Army as part of the new First World War Veterans Reserve program. On October 15, 1927, both units were formally combined into a single regiment under the name 'The Cookeville Army National Guard'. In 1938, during World War II there were numerous changes to army gift history in Cookeville. On November 8th of that year Trained Reserve Officers Training Corps (TROOC) units were activated at Camp Shelby near Memphis and these Troops became active duty infantry brigades on November 16th when General George Custer was killed in action at Battle of Little Bighorn. At first these TROOCs functioned as honor guard for general’s graves but soon began providing enlisted men and women with training in engineer warfare skills needed for war production plants such as aircraft carriers and munitions factories. These days TROOC troops are still assigned to various bases around our state performing garrison duties including recruitment drives for the Tennessee Volunteer Guardsmen Association (TVGA). Then on January 1st 1947 a new order of battle changed when artillery batteries from Fort Campbell moved from Chattanooga to Macon Barracks located just outside of town to become Company A - 1st Battalion 3rd Artillery Regiment (later redesignated Company E 2nd Battalion 9th Artillery Regiment). This move signaled an end to service with Fort Campbell artillery battery which had conducted anti-aircraft warfare operations against Japanese planes operating out of Tokyo airfield since 1942 until their withdrawal from combat on September 1945 due to lack of ammo and modern equipment necessary for continued hostilities against Japan continuing even after they surrendered! After this move Company A -1st Battalion 3rd Artillery Regiment (later redesignated Company E 2nd Battalion 9th Artillery Regiment) permanently transferred its artillerry capabilities back to CookevilleArmy National Guard Headquarters Building located at Main Street corner Depot Road serving now as Battery M/2 515MC!!

Cookeville is a small town in central Tennessee, United States. The population was 2,827 at the 2010 census. Cookeville was founded by John Cooke in 1802. It is located near the confluence of the Tennessee River and Cumberland River. The town has a rich history that dates back to 1802 when John Cooke founded it on the banks of the Tennessee River. He named it after his home village in Ireland, Cooley. The first school in Cookeville was built on Ash Lawn Road in 1835, and eventually served as the center for education for all of rural Davidson County. In 1907, Congress passed an act providing funding to help start a dam upstream from Cookeville to create reservoirs for irrigation purposes. This project led to increased development around Post Oak Dam and later other dams along the river system. In 1941, when World War II started, Cookeville became an important military base due to its strategic location on both sides of the river valley between Nashville and Chattanooga. After hostilities ended, many businesses opened up including several steel mills that helped contribute to economic growth throughout the postwar period. During the late 20th century and early 21st century, coal mining began operations in nearby Roane County which contributed significantly to local economic growth during this time period. In recent years, coining has slowly stopped due to environmental concerns though there are ongoing efforts being made by companies such as Peabody Coal Company Incorporated (PCI) to restart mining activities as part of their attempt at preserving lost jobs within Appalachian coal country

In Cookeville, Tennessee, the history of the town dates back to 1836. At that time, the land that now makes up Cookeville was part of the Creek Nation and was used by both Native Americans and white settlers. The first white settler in Cookeville was James Fenton, who built a cabin on land he purchased from the Muscogee Nation in 1836. By 1840, other settlers had started to arrive in Cookeville, and by 1845, it had a population of around 100 people. The town quickly became an important center for trade and commerce in the area. In 1847, a sawmill was built in Cookeville and began producing lumber for local businesses. Over time, other businesses also began to be established in Cookeville: a post office (1848), a grocery store (1850), a cotton gin (1853), and a blacksmith shop (1857). From its beginnings as an agricultural community, Cookeville grew into an important commercial center. In 1860, the city fathers formed what is now known as the City Council to oversee municipal affairs within the limits of Cookeville. This organization helped lead to increased business activity and economic development within Cookeville over time. In 1865, Commerce Street became one of severalavenues within Cookevillegrowing Name fame as one of Chattanooga's most significant streets. It would remain so until 1974 when it was renamed Franklin Boulevard after Ulysses S Grantwood Sr., mayor during Reconstruction Period in Tennessee With its growing importance within Chattanooga society and economy came increasing attention from officials at various levels regarding postal services emanating from Knox County; viz., mail service between Chattanooga proper via Knox County Courthouse square downtown supplementing existing routes operated by Middle Tennessee Railroad Company downriver along Alabama Avenue Throughout this period there existed some degree of rivalry or competition among various civic organizations operating within or surrounding towns/cities vying for attention from respective state authorities; viz., county commissioners vested with power pursuant to Tennessean Constitution article XIV section 9 et al.; Boardwalk Commissioners - Responding mostlyto direct orders receivedfrom higher-ups at courthouses; Memphis Commercial Road Railway Company leased property adjacent toworking on High Street near Post Office circa 1870s & operated carriage service only then (& later)
Cookeville was founded in 1825 by James Cooke and his family. The town was named after General John C. Knox, the hero of the Battle of Bunker Hill. In 1848, Cookeville became a railroad town and within a few years had become one of the most important rail centers in Tennessee. The railroad brought new life to the town and it grew rapidly into a major cultural center for the region. In 1925, Cookeville was designated as the seat of government for Botetourt County which included parts of present-day Tennesse City. On July 1, 1926, Botetourt County merged with Roane County to form Davidson County. The growth of Cookeville continued through World War II and during that time it became one of the largest military bases in Tennessee. After the war ended, Cookeville experienced another period of rapid growth due to its status as an agricultural center and its importance as a transportation hub for goods moving between Nashville and Memphis. In recent decades though, Cookeville has seen significant redevelopment efforts underway which have led to increased traffic congestion on its streets and numerous retail stores opening up around its core downtown area.
