From the time marines were first deployed to Chattanooga in 1864, they have been providing a sense of community and support. Marines have served in many different capacities throughout their history, but the tradition of giving back has always been a part of their culture. This year marks the centenary of military deployment in Chattanooga, and Marine Commandant General James Conway announced that Marines will be hosting a reciprocal gift exchange this holiday season. This event is designed to help connect local businesses with servicemen and women from all over the world who are dedicated to promoting peace and stability. The event begins on November 15th and runs until December 16th. Businesses that wish to participate can email or fax them an invitation for participation, and it is anticipated that more than 1,000 businesses will join in the fun. Every business that participates receives a complimentary case of beer or wine as well as invitations to send up to five friends/family members (or anyone they know) along with an educational gift voucher good for $25 at any participating store. In addition, each company will receive a digital banner which reads “Thank you for supporting our troops!”
