The Coast Guard Station in Chattanooga, Tennessee is one of the oldest and most well-known Coast Guard installations in the country. The Station was established on December 12, 1875 by Rear Admiral John Rodgers as a coastal artillery battery to protect navigation along the Georgia and Alabama coasts. The station grew rapidly during World War II as the needs of the Coast Guard changed with the war. In 1942, the station moved from its original location on Union Street to what is now Point Lookout National Seashore. In 1945, Coastal Artillery Battery No. 15 was reactivated at Point Lookout and became part of Sector 3 (Southwest Florida). As sector 3 expanded, so did Coastal Artillery Battery No. 15’s responsibilities becoming that of a coast guard detachment responsible for all aspects of maritime security within Sector 3 including law enforcement activities and military exercises. In 1958, Sector 3 was divided into two areas: South Florida and Southeast Florida. sectors 1 & 2 were combined into one area known as Northeast Florida which included Point Lookout National Seashore . In 1970, when Northwest Florida was created it absorbed sectors 1 & 2 including Point Lookout National Seashore In 1984, when Southwest Florida was created it also absorbed sectors 1 & 2 including Point Lookout National Seashore in 1990 Sector 5 (Central Gulf) was formed which included both Southwest Florida and Northeast Florida In 1994 sector 6 (East Texas) merged with sector 5 creating a new area known as East Texas/Cincinnati Bayou

Today, the Coast Guard provides essential services such as search and rescue, law enforcement, maritime security and more. Chattanooga is a city in Tennessee, United States. The population was 3,237 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hamilton County and is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. The city has been home to a diverse population for over 200 years, with people from all over the world who have made Chattanooga their home. Chattanooganee culture began to form during this time, as traders and travelers brought their goods and services to the city. The first mention of Chattanooganee people can be found in an early map of Tennessee that was created by Colonel James Wilkinson in 1796. By 1800, Chattanooganee speakers had started living in what is now Chattanooga. In 1802, General Andrew Jackson was elected president of the United States and he ordered federal troops to occupy Knoxville so that he could build his new military base there. The settlers in what is now Chattanooga were able to get food and materials they needed from surrounding counties while also trading with other nearby towns. This trade helped make Chattanooga one of the most prosperous cities in America during its early years. In 1850, when Chickamauga Battle took place, Chattanooga was quickly become known as one of the best locations for military encampments due to its strategic location between Atlanta and Nashville on two different hillstops overlooking both cities center respectively. After Chickamauga Battle ended, many soldiers returned home but some stayed behind to help rebuild Chattanooganee City after battle damage occurred including several churches which were destroyed as well as homes along Broad Street which still stand today (the Broad Street Bridge stands today). With growth came problems though because much land within town limits were given up by previous owners who wanted out because they became rich from agriculture or commerce instead of becoming part of town In 1902-1903 a tornado touched down near downtown Chattanooganee destroying ten buildings including four churches with losses estimated at $500 per structure however no lives were lost Between 1910-1920 a group called "The Pruitts" bought 1/4 mile (800 feet) wide strip mall located east side of current Donelson Avenue between 2nd Street South and 3rd Street North for $2 million dollars This area would later be known as Pruitt’s Valley . Development continued until World War II when everything stopped again due to lack Of funding . However construction resumed post war thanks largely To Federal funds which allowed for large housing projects such as Signal Hill subdivision

In 1815, following Battle of Lookout Mountain, Chattanooga was burned by Union troops under General Ulysses S. Grant. The city was rebuilt, but suffered from major destruction in World War II. After the war, Chattanooga grew rapidly as a commercial center and today is one of America's most prosperous cities.
