The Chattanooga Army National Guard has been deploying gift history in Chattanooga, Tennessee for over a century. The tradition began with the First World War when soldiers from surrounding towns and villages would bring gifts to their military friends in the city. Marshall ordered the formation of the Chattanooga Infantry Regiment in 1864. This regiment was later redesignated as the 2nd Georgia Infantry Regiment and fought in both World War I and World War II. The Chandler family donated land to the military in 1924 and began construction of what is now known as Fort Bragg Park.
