Brownsville is a small town in the state of Tennessee and it is located on the banks of the Tennessee River. The town was named for General Andrew Jackson, who was born in this town in 1767. Brownsville has been an important coffee center since before the American Revolution. In 1796, Colonel John Sevier founded what is now known as Sevier Coffee Company in Brownsville. Sevier became one of the first farmers to grow coffee in America. This early coffee culture helped to create a strong connection between Brownstown and Nashville, which continues to this day. In 1824, Captain James Caldwell founded Caldwell Coffee Company in Brownsville. Captain Caldwell was instrumental in developing the business model for modern coffee companies. He pioneered methods of roasting beans and packaging them into cans or boxes that allowed customers to purchase their own cups of coffee at local markets instead of purchasing pre-made cups from retailers like J&R Coffee Company. In 1861, General Robert Ewing established a post office at Brownsville with mail service provided by wagon trains brought overland from Nashville through Cumberland Gap National Monument (now Cumberland County). This allowed soldiers stationed at Fort Donelson near Nashville to buy fresh roasted coffee from nearby farmers while they were off duty. General Ewing also purchased land adjacent to his post office so that he could begin production of his own espresso-based drinks called "Ewing's". These delicious drinks quickly became popular among soldiers and civilians alike and continue to be enjoyed today by people living all over the United States!

Brownsville also has the distinction of being one of only two towns in Williamson County to have both a grocery store and a restaurant (the other being Johnson City).
Brownsville is a town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 9,567 at the 2010 census. The town is part of the Nashville–Murfreesboro–Davidson metropolitan area. Brownsville is named after General William T. Sherman's march through Tennessee in 1864 during the American Civil War. The first permanent settler in what is now Brownsville was John Smith in 1819. A post office called Brownstown was established in 1825, and remained in operation until 1875. In 1865, General William T. Sherman's March through Tennessee started from this town as his military strategy to stop Confederate forces from retreating into Alabama and Mississippi following the Battle of Perryville near Nashville on November 6th that year; this march ultimately ended up resulting in Sherman's victory at Franklin Ford on November 14th that year which effectively forced the Confederates to retreat all the way back to Chattanooga across the Tennessee River (the Battle of Chickamauga would take place two weeks later). With little warning or provocation from either side, Smith were burned down by troops stationed there for protection on December 13th 1865 while he and his family were inside their home; this event caused much anger and unrest within local communities as a result of what many saw as an early example of warlordism by Union soldiers seeking revenge for previous losses suffered by their people. In 1830, Cherokee Indian trader James Robertson settled west of present day Brownsville with his wife Bathsheba Marshall who had accompanied him when he reached America three years earlier via Trans-Atlantic sailing journey; they built a log cabin and named it Poston Creek after their new home on Poston Creek some miles east of present day Brownsville.
