The Brownsville Air National Guard's deployable gift history began in 1946 when the unit was activated as the 1st Bombardment Wing at Randolph Field, Texas. In 1947, the wing was redesignated as the 3rd Bombardment Wing and its flying units were transferred to Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota. The wing then moved to Fairbanks AFB, Alaska in 1949 and headquarters were established there. In 1951, the wing was reassigned from Fairbanks AFB to Mid-Tennessee Airport and its flying units were transferred there. The wing then served at Selfridge AFB, Michigan until 1957 when it moved back to Brownsville AFB for a final time. The wing has been stationed here continuously since that time. Today, the Brownsville Air National Guard's deployable gift history includes more than 12 aircraft and nearly 4200 personnel stationed worldwide including aircraft operations control squadron (AOCS) located at Elmendorf AB in Anchorage, Alaska; airlift command center (AIC) located at Hurlburt Field FL; ammunition management squadron (AMS) located at Robins AFB GA; intelligence support squadron (ISSU) located at Offutt AFB NE; public affairs squadron (PAS) located at McChord AB WA; emergency response unit (ERU), also headquartered here; and Werner Aircraft Inc., manufacturer of popular military helicopters here.
Brownsville is a small town in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee. It is located on the banks of the Cumberland River, about 20 miles east of Nashville. The population was 1,895 at the 2000 census. The area that now includes Brownsville was first settled by Scots-Irish immigrants in the early 1800s. The native people were the Moccasin Kill tribe. The town was founded in 1836 by John Caldwell, who named it for his home town of Brownsville, Texas. In 1861, after Confederate General Robert E. Lee's surrender at Appomattox Court House, Union General Ulysses S. Grant renamed Brownsville "New York City" because he felt that its strategic location made it an important stop on Union armies moving southward during the war. In 1865, Brownsville became part of Tennessee when it seceded from Kentucky and joined the new state as a result of the American Civil War. After Reconstruction ended in 1877, many African Americans left to find work opportunities elsewhere in Tennessee or outside of America; however, some stayed and started businesses such as grocery stores and blacksmith shops in what is now Brownville. For many years until World War II there was no electricity or phone service in this community so residents relied on generators to maintain their homes and run their businesses during those times without recourse to standard modern amenities like electricity or plumbing systems which arrived only recently with advances in technology. After World War II local industries slowly decayed while much unemployment persisted due to lack of job opportunities outside of agriculture or manufacturing jobs typical for Appalachians at that time; however over time various civic organizations have emerged to redevelop efforts including arts and culture programs led by musicians Willie Dixon and Elton John among others which have brought new life back into this once struggling community since 2010 despite significant challenges faced by aging infrastructure, limited access to education and health care resources as well as opioid addiction issues still persisting today among some residents

Here is a chronological list of some of the most common and memorable gift deployments by the USAF: -1963 - The first time that an American military installation in Southeast Asia received a gift from the United States Air Force was when F5B Bird Dog bombers from the 93d Fighter Wing, stationed at Rangoon, Burma, brought Christmas presents to United States Forces Vietnam (USFV) troops. -1981 - The U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand received a gift basket filled with chocolates, cigarettes and other items as part of Operation Smile campaign coordinated by Headquarters Air Combat Command's 1st Tactical Aerospace Division. -1985 - A Boeing 707 cargo plane was donated to El Centro Regional Airport in California in order to commemorate Special Olympics World Games held there that year. The aircraft featured customized Squadron/Air Group insignia and Nighthawk fighter jets painted blue for flyovers during competition events. -1987 - A Boeing 747 freighter was donated to Laughlin AFB near San Antonio, Texas in order to commemorate Silver Jubilee celebration of Republic of Texas air force unit activated on July 14th 1941 under First Lieutenant James Doolittle Jr.. At the same time, all squadron Emblem patches were retired from all C-130 Hercules airplanes stationed at Laughlin AFB effective August 15th 1987 as part of program "Operation Urgent Care". In honor of this event EAME flew two flights solemnly colors over Laughlin AFB on November 6th 1987 with troop Carrier Nimitz USS George H McCain participating flown formation flyover then went into port for her next tourney on December 3rd 1987 period lasting until January 8th 1988
The Brownsville community was established in 1827, when the General Assembly of Tennessee passed a resolution authorizing the erection of a town in that location. The first resident to move to Brownsville was James Southerland, who arrived with his family from Georgia in 1829. The town's growth continued during the 1830s and 1840s as settlers built homes and businesses along the banks of the Cumberland River. By 1851, Brownsville had reached its current size with a population of 100. In 1861, Confederate forces occupied Brownsville and began what would be known as the Civil War here. The Battle of Brownstown took place on November 9th, 1861 and resulted in Confederate loss; however, many locals helpederbear for their side and remain friendly to both sides today. During Reconstruction (1865-1876), Brownsville experienced rapid growth as new citizens poured into the area to take advantage of new opportunities created by free labor laws enacted following the American Civil War. At this time, Brownsville became an important transportation hub as it served as a crossroad for travelers heading southward or northward along I-15/I-24 Interstate highway network. As industry grew around Brownsville during this time period, so too did social tensions between those who planted crops and those who worked in manufacturing plants; however, these skirmishes were generally limited to minor disagreements over product prices or distribution methods rather than any real violence or conflict. In 1907, Brownstown Elementary School was dedicated in honor of local resident Clyde Crain Sr., one of only two white children born within walking distance of downtown Brownsville at that time. That same year saw another watershed moment when Mayor Wm Henson announced that all public schools would be integrated into municipal government starting on May 1st - an event which symbolized major changes taking place in locally developing communities across Tennessee during this era. With integration now complete throughout most municipalities across Tennessee following World War II (1939-1945), it is no surprise thatBrownsburgvelve celebrated its 125th anniversary last year!

The town was founded on the site of an aborted plantation, which is now part of downtown Brownsville. In 1830, the Texas Revolution caused many Scots-Irish settlers to flee for their lives, and many others decided to stay in what is today Brownsville. The early settlers were subsistence farmers who grew corn, beans, peas, and other vegetables. By 1840, when Tennessee admitted Kentucky as a state, most of the residents in Brownsville had become slaves. However, following the Civil War some free people moved into the town from surrounding counties and began developing it as a major commercial center. After Reconstruction ended in 1865, many African Americans migrated to Brownsville because they were barred from entering white areas north of Louisville.
