The National Guard of Tennessee, also known as the Tennessee Army National Guard, is a military reserve force in the United States state of Tennessee. The unit was formed on July 1, 1941 when the Regular Army headquarters moved to Knoxville from Nashville. The Guard consists of 9 corps and brigade groups totaling over 39,000 men and women. National Guardsmen have served in every U.S. War except World War II and Vietnam; they are currently active in both Iraq and Afghanistan as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. As of 2016, there were 1,825 Guardsmen serving in Iraq and 2,161servingin Afghanistan; 9%ofall U.S. military members are guardsmen.[1] Ohio's first National Guard unit was organized on November 16th 1861 by Adjutant General James Hogg at Camp Butler under the command of Colonel John Troup before it dispersed on December 7th 1861[2]. On May 10th 1875 Ohio's second national guard unit was organized at Toledo with 3 companies each under Colonel Augustus Webber[3]; this unit disbanded on October 14th 1876[4]. A third national guard regiment (the 100TH New York) was organized at Syracuse on October 15th 1881 by Brigadier General Julius Crocker with three battalions each[5]; this regiment also disbanded on October 14th 1882[6]. When Kentucky seceded from the Union in 1860, its militia forces were turned into a separate state army commanded by an adjutant general who reported to Commissioner Nathaniel Banks; this army numbered about 3800 men but only 350 CapTanks/Lieutenants arrived at Lexington due to funding shortfalls[7][8]. When Confederate General Robert Ewell attacked Union forces along I-65 near Bowling Green siege lines late March 1862 he encountered heavy Federal resistance initially successful until US MajGen George Meade ordered his units southwesterly towards Clarksville whereupon Confederate LtCol Jubal Early relieved GenEwell later that day; early April Confederate losses mounting soon led to Robert Ewell being evacuated eastward towards Chattanooga where he surrendered after achieving little more than 500 yards from Union lines [9][10][11] This event is generally regarded as one of the turning points leading up to Civil War because it demonstrated that even numerically inferior armies could mount successful operations outside their home territory if properly supplied with resources like horses and artillery support

Bristol, Tennessee is a city located in the state of Tennessee. The population was 753 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Knox County and has a population of 11,812 as of 2016. The area that now downtown Bristol was first settled by Cherokee people in the early 1800s. In 1821, General Andrew Jackson moved his army through this area to protect settlers from Cherokee raiders. The town was platted in 1835 by John Campbell, a Nashville lawyer who had met General Jackson when he visited Chattanooga. During World War II, Bristol grew rapidly as war-related production skyrocketed in the city and surrounding rural areas. The influx of soldiers led to an increase in crime and social unrest which were troubling for many years after the war ended. After downtown Bristol became business center again following its revitalization, much progress was made neighborhood-by-Neighborhood until gentrification caused some longtime residents to leave for more expensive neighborhoods outside of town over time. In recent decades, Bristol has seen growth as an educational and research center thanks to several major universities including Vanderbilt University; Brown University; Memphis Community Colleges; and UT Knoxville’s School of Business Administration and Marketing Administration (SBAMA). Other businesses have also grown along with the community since then, such as Jardiance Wellness Center, which opened in 2017 just off Interstate 240 between I-240 and State Route 153 (the old main street), making it one of only two locations within 10 miles of Downtown Knoxville that provides complete health care services without having to drive out into Nashville or other cities for care.
One of the oldest and most well-known national guard gift traditions is that of giving gifts to military members. The tradition began in 1892 when Governor George Washington called for the formation of a state militia to protect the state against possible attacks by Mexico. Roosevelt signed into law the National Guard Civilian Service Act which gave all U.S. citizens the right to serve in the civil service without having to complete any military training or serve in combat during World War II. This made it easier for people who wanted to help support their country but did not have time for Military service and also opened up many jobs for civilians who had spent their careers in government service before becoming soldiers or police officers again after World War II ended. Since then, there has been an increase in civilian Gifts given out by individual citizens both within and outside of the military because they feel it is important that our troops are receiving appropriate and meaningful gifts from civilians living close by who care about them and want to show their support for our great nation!

During World War II, the National Guard was used as an auxiliary force to help mobilize America’s forces. In 1968, President Lyndon Johnson signed into law “The Colorado River Compact Act Amendments which provided for state-led organizations within each Arizona territory with responsibility for providing natural resources necessary for defense purposes” (Arizona Historical Society). This amendment granted states authority to establish their own Guardsmen units and gave these units a legal name and uniformed insignia. Since 2001, gifts have been given in support of Soldiers' Families programs on display at Fort Carson in Englewood (Colorado) and Fort Hood (Texas). These Soldier's Families Programs provide financial assistance to families whose loved ones have served in combat or were deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation New Dawn since September 11th, 2001.
Bristol, Tennessee is a city in and the county seat of Knox County, Tennessee. The population was 117,624 at the 2010 census. It is the 11th most populous city in Tennessee and the 9th most populous city in Tennessee by population. Bristol was founded on August 29, 1814 by men from Cumberland County, Kentucky as a small trading post on the Middle Fork of the Holston River. The first permanent settlement was made on October 6, 1816 when Captain John Smith and his party landed at Bristol Bay to trade with Indians. On February 14, 1819, Governor James K. Polk issued a proclamation naming Bristol "the political capital of America." In 1840 it became an incorporated town under the name of Knoxville. The cotton industry played an important role in Bristol's early history. After passage of the Cotton Act of 1846 which regulated slavery within limits set by Congress, slaveholders began to free their slaves before returning them to cotton production south of Memphis; this destroyed many homes and businesses in downtown Bristol but also allowed for new development that continues today including several high-rise buildings that are still standing today such as One Fifth Street and One Eighth Street Streets NE. During World War II much activity took place within or near downtown Bristol due to production for military use in nearby Anderson Manufacturing Company plants; these plants produced billions of dollars worth of munitions during World War II alone. Many people who lived and worked near Anderson Manufacturing Company remain active members or descendants of those workers today including mayor Bob Lanier and Congressman Thomas Massie both from Knoxville). However much activity stopped after 1945 because did not allow companies like Anderson Manufacturing Company to produce any more weapons without government licenses which were difficult to come by given prohibitionism rules at that time; this led to a decline in industrial production throughout much central Tennessee until recent years when some large companies have returned back into town economy although they continue operate out-of-town locations like TennCare Health System (formerly CentralTennesse Healthcare) located Downtown just off I-65 Exit 417A which opened its doors in 2001 Many famous people have been born or raised here such as Neil Armstrong (humanity’s first human being), Bill Gates (creator Microsoft), Peyton Manning (footballer/ throwing star for Colts/ Broncos), Ashton Kutcher (actor/ comedian), Lamar Odom (athlete) Robert Wagner Jr., presidential candidate Senator Duffey Tillis from North Carolina
Bristol, Tennessee was founded in 1786 as a small farming community on the Cumberland River. In 1815, the town became an independent city and remained so until it merged with Nashville in 1868. Bristol's economy changed heavily during its time as an independent city, with manufacturing and heavy agricultural activity becoming dominant. The city experienced rapid growth following its annexation by Nashville in 1960, and today is one of the most populous cities in Tennessee.
