Bartlett is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,709 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville–Davidson Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit Bartlett was John C Williamson in 1811. He named it after his friend and mentor, General James Robertson Bartlett. In 1814, Colonel Samuel Cooke established a post office here with the name of "Avery" after himself and General James Avery. Bartlett had no school until 1830 when an addition to the courthouse built in that year added a room for teaching children by subscription from private citizens. In 1865, Union General Jubal Early attacked Confederate General Robert E Lee's army here while trying to cross the Cumberland River into Kentucky; many local residents fought for Early and some were rewarded with land grants or commissions in his army. In 1922, Coca-Cola Bottling Company president James Masons opened their first bottling plant near town on what is now US Highway 421 (now State Route 6). The company operated until 2000 when it was sold to PepsiCo USA and eventually demolished. According to the 2010 census, there are 1,709 people residing in Bartlett Township with a total population of 2,890 as of July 1st 2020

The town of Bartlett, Tennessee was founded by Andrew Bartlett in 1796. The town was named after General James Robertson, who fought in the War of 1812. The first settler in Bartlett was John Howell. In 1819, the town had a population of only 100 people. By 1830, the population had grown to 1,500 people and by 1840 it had reached 3,000 people. The growth of the town was due to its location on the Cumberland River and its access to trade with Kentucky and Georgia. The town's first school was built in 1814. It became an academy in 1826 and later became known as Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. The first courthouse in Bartlett was built in 1830-31. It served as the seat of justice for eastern Tennessee until it moved to Nashville in 1861. In 1865, Bartlett became the capital of Eastern Tennessee under Confederate rule during the American Civil War. After Union forces captured Nashville from Confederate control, bartlett reverted back to its original name - Andrew Bartlett Township - but continued to serve as a base for Confederate operations until surrendered two years later. Bartlett experienced heavy fighting during World War II and many local businesses were destroyed or damaged by German air raids during that conflict; however, there were no major casualties among residents or business owners). After war ended, much development took place within the boundaries of what is now downtown Bartlett; however some street names still remain unchanged such as Second Street (which runs along one edge of Central Square), Third Street (southwest corner of Broadway), Fourth Street (northwest corner First Avenue) etc.; these streets are still used today for commercial purposes despite their past military use! Today's downtown is home to many boutiques and restaurants as well as several large banks including Regions Bank & Trust Company which has been headquartered here since 1917!
Bartlett was founded on December 5, 1801 by Isaac Bartlett and his wife Rebecca. The town became a county seat on July 1, 1821. One of the first settlers in Bartlett was Amos Neely. A post office called Bartlett was established in 1827, and remained in operation until it closed in 1906.
